The AIDAvita is a popular floating resort. The waters are crowded with sea-worthy vessels, so to make planning easier, we've done all the prep work for a cruise vacation. As part of a Huffington Post Travel series on cruise ships, here is a tip sheet offering all the key information one could ever need to know about the AIDAvita.

Special Features

The Body & Soul Spa on the
is the largest of its kind for this type of cruise liner. There is an "anytime disco" and a pool designed to look like a beach. There is a children's club, as well as cabins with four beds for families traveling with children.

Accommodations

There are 633 cabins on the AIDAvita that can accomodate up to 1,582 passengers. There are some interior
on the AIDAvita, but many are outside rooms with balconies. The cabins are furnished in bright colors with trendy furniture.

Cost

A four-day western Mediterranean cruise costs around $480 and includes an inside cabin and stops in Valencia, Mallorca and Alicante in Spain. Prospective passengers can look for packages and deals on
(note: the site is in German but booking can be done on many English-language sites). Most fees are included, but extras come in the form of drinks at the bar, spa treatments and dining in the Rossini restaraunt.

Recommended Cruise

The Caribbean
on the AIDAvita is a passenger favorite. The popular cruise departs from the Dominican Republic. Stops include Costa Rica, Venezuela and Colombia.

Dining Experience

There are two buffet
on the AIDAvita. There is also a gourmet restaraunt called the Rossini. The meals in the Rossini restaraunt require an extra charge, and it is recommended that guests make reservations.

Maiden Voyage

The
voyage of the AIDAvita was in May 2006. It sailed from Hamburg, Germany, to the Mediterranean. The AIDAvita is one of the newest ships owned by AIDA Cruises, and it caters to families.

In The News

There was one reported case of a female crew member having
on the AIDAvita in August 2009. She was treated at a hospital in Athens, Greece. No other notable news has been reported about the ship.
