A Chicago Police Department truck carrying a prisoner along the Bishop Ford Expressway (I-94) near King Drive burst into flames after the vehicle's engine caught on fire late Sunday.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the two police officers and the prisoner they were transporting were not injured in the fire, which began around 11:15 p.m.
NBC Chicago adds that some southbound lanes which the vehicle was traveling along were closed after firefighters were called to the scene to put out the blaze. All lanes were reopened by 1 a.m. Monday morning.
