First Posted: 08/15/11 04:04 PM ET   Updated: 10/15/11 06:12 AM ET

Today, Julia Child would have been 99 years old. (She died on August 13, 2004, just two days before her 92nd birthday.) To celebrate her birthday and contributions to the culinary scene, HuffPost Food has compiled some of our favorite clips from The French Chef, Julia Child & Company and Julia & Jacques: Cooking at Home.

Bon Appetit!

Wherever you are, Ms. Child, Happy Birthday from a fan. And I always keep my fingers impeccably clean while cooking.

Julia Child is a huge inspiration, but really...the parsley thing back then was over the top. But hey, impeccable technique and I can vouch for her cookbook. She was the real deal, unlike so many TV chefs.

Speaking as a chef, this woman is a greater inspiration to me than almost all the others, except perhaps Auguste Escoffier.

Marco Pierre White ranks too, largely because he made Gordon Ramsay cry.

Julia was the queen, however, largely because she broke it down so well. Her cookbook is still fabulous.

What a wonderful woman! Willful and confident, she was a true force who proved that a person can transform herself.

The single most hysterically funny moment was Julia wrestling with the giant monkfish! The fish probably weighed in at 100 lbs. (or more!) and was absolutely enormous. Her table couldn't fit the fish on it for her to slice up! I laughed until I cried!

Notice how the omlette is very slim....about the size of a large banana?

These days we make them the size of the entire plate, lol

Saw the Meryl Streep movie "Julia and Julie" and thoroughly enjoyed it (though I was expecting it to be all about cooking, which it was, but not the way I thought). I'd watch it again.

I actually know for a fact that if you whisk eggs to make an omelet you have to count to 88 in order to have a fluffy perfect omelet . I saw this on her show once... I loved her exhibit in DC I couldn't get enough of her on PBS even have a first edition of The French Chef Cookbook its a treasure I will always keep.

What a wonderful woman. I think every chef my age has been influenced by her. I loved her original PBS show. What a woman!!!
