Patti Smith And John Logan Collaborate On Adaptation Of 'Just Kids'; Smith's Memoir Is Coming To The Big Screen

Rock And Roll Revisited

Chances are if you have a love of old New York, an obsession with rock & roll and dreams of being famous you've already read Patti Smith's memoir "Just Kids."

But for those who have not been toting around the petite black book, you're in luck, "Just Kids" is coming to the big screen.

Deadline reports that smokey-voiced Smith will collaborate with Oscar-winning screenwriter John Logan on an adaptation of her bestselling memoir of her 1960s-70s life in New York City couched in her bitter sweet relationship with photographer, Robert Mapplethorpe.

Logan has written such Hollywood hits as "Gladiator" and "The Aviator."

But don't fret, Patti's no sell out--Logan is well-versed in capturing the soul of artists--he most recently won a Tony Award for his play, "Red" about Mark Rothko.
