Corey White, Target of Facebook Murder-For-Hire, Killed Monday

Authorities in Pennsylvania are investigating the slaying of a Philadelphia man who was gunned down after a judge upheld felony charges against the mother of his child. The former girlfriend is accused of allegedly offering $1,000 on Facebook for someone to kill him, police said.

Corey White, 22, was shot once in the chest a couple of blocks from his home in West Philadelphia around 7:45 p.m. Monday. White was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

"The preliminary investigation reveals that the occupants of a brown vehicle pulled up on the decedent, got out, there was some type of verbal confrontation and one of them pulled out a gun and shot him once in the chest," Philadelphia Police Captain James Clark said.

The vehicle used in the shooting had been stolen the previous day and was later found ablaze in nearby Yeadon, Pa., police said.

The investigation into the slaying is still underway, and no suspects or persons of interest have been named, but police say they are looking into a few different theories. One revolves around White's ex-girlfriend, London Eley, 20, who is also the mother of his 2-year-old daughter.

Just hours before White's murder, municipal Judge Patrick Dugan upheld multiple charges against Eley and Timothy Bynum, 18, for their involvement in an alleged Facebook murder-for-hire plot.

Police said that on May 23, Eley allegedly wrote in a Facebook post: "I will pay somebody a stack to kill my baby father." According to police, a "stack" is slang for $1,000.

Police said Bynum allegedly responded to the ad, writing, "Say no more ... what he look like ... where he be at ... need that stack 1st."

According to police, Eley posted that Facebook message roughly 15 minutes after she was involved in a heated argument with White and told him that he would never see his daughter again.

Eley is being held on a murder solicitation charge for her Facebook solicitation and on a weapons charge. Bynum is being held for murder conspiracy and weapons charges. The pair has been behind bars since June. On Monday, Dugan reduced Eley's bond from $50,000 to $35,000 and Bynum's from $75,000 to $50,000. Both defendants are due back in court on Sept. 6.

Another possible theory involves White's alleged participation in a July shooting. According to the Associated Press, police suspect White may have been the getaway driver in a shooting that occurred outside a nightclub in Upper Darby in which one person was killed.

Bynum's attorney, Lopez Thompson, and Eley's attorney, Gerald Stein, both say their clients were joking around when they made their Facebook posts. Neither had anything to do with White's slaying, they said.

"I know where my client is, and therefore I know where she wasn't," Stein told ABCNews.com. "I recognize there is a coincidence in timing between the hearing yesterday and the death of Mr. White, but at this time that's all it is. And I don't think premature conclusions are warranted for my client or the codefendant."

Who's the guy in the pic at the top of the story? How strange. He's not the victim. Hmmm...weird.

Sounds like the threat was just a joke in bad taste. The dad got killed for his own involvement in something -- why would a contract killer argue with his target before killing him?

You know, this is a very serious thing when you stop to think about it. How safe are any of us with the idiots running around who would do this at the drop of a hat?

In this day of people believing they have 6 thousand 'friends'' on Facebook along with the belief that hiding behind your computer makes you brave. These 2 brain dead nitwits are exactly where they belong, behind bars for sheer stupidity! Hopefully they find the most intelligent relative in the gene pool to place that poor child with. Bet she wishes she bought a Gucci bag instead...... :/

Lifeguard at the gene pool. I'm just saying, this rather ignorant young woman has reproduced. A lifeguard at the gene pool would've listened for about 15 seconds and denied her reproductive rights.

Now that I've amused myself. Really? Facebook? This baby daddy/baby mama dynamic needs some serious evaluation. No good is ever associated with either. And you know who suffers the poor children who didn't ask to be here.

Lifeguard at the gene pool in 2012. Just say no to baby daddy/baby mama drama.

Momma must have worked since she had a stack to offer up to as payment for knockin off Baby;s Daddy. I am sure she was a hardworking individual who would never associate with someone who would do a shooting. NOT....still where'd she get a stack...I don't have a stack do you?

Maybe he was naive enough to make her the beneficiary to his life insurance policy. I mean, she WAS the mother of his child. He should have made his mom the beneficiary, but some people do "unsmart" things when they are in love.

Educate yourself! Solicitation for Murder is a crime! Even if you write it "on your wall". "Just joking" is not an excuse especially if the person ends up dead. The problem with society is the laws that are set to protect people are not being respected or considered withholding. There are more ways to incriminate yourself with technology. When posting on social networks you need to be aware of the laws. Have respect for yourself and others!!

Isn't America Great? And now she'll plead insanity or abuse etc...etc... A life was only worth $1000 Pathetic Instead of our government being all over the world fighting we need to CLEAN UP our own backyard and re evaluate our LEGAL SYSTEM and make STRICTER LAWs for murders etc.... Everyday the CRIME page gets more bazzar.

A stack sounds like drug dealer talk to me.If it was not so sad it would be funny.

The article clearly states that the pair were already behind bars for their ill-conceived plot and that the victim may have been involved in another shooting. Her stupidity is costing her a lot more than she bargained for, but it's very possible that she had nothing to do with it.
