'The Early Show' - Female College Athletes Face Higher Eating Disorder Risk
1 of 7
In this clip, 'Early Show' correspondent Ben Tracy takes a look at one collegiate gymnast's struggle with eating disorders after leaving the highly rigorous sport. "At 24, Alyssa Kitasoe is fit and healthy, running almost every day, but four years ago, she was stuck in a vicious cycle of binge eating and purging, up to four times a day," Tracy reports as footage shows Kitasoe jogging on the sidewalk. Alyssa was a gymnast at UCLA, training many hours each week and watching her weight. After giving up the sport, Alyssa began quickly gaining weight.

"I was always known as the gymnast, to my friends, my family. So once gymnastics was taken out of the equation, it was kinda like, you know, who am I?" Kitasoe explains, "That's what triggered my eating disorder." According to Kitasoe, she never took time to grieve the loss of her identity.

These acts of kindness by police officers happen more often than people realize. It's unfortunate that this only came to light because it was the last thing the officer did.

May God bless you Officer Henwood and bring peace to your family in this time of sadness. Thank you Officer Henwood for your time in Afghanistan as a Marine serving all of us and for your dedication as a police officer to the citizens of San Diego. It takes a real man to stand up for our country, to be a Marine, to be a police officer, to work in such a dangerous job.

Revenge is mine, sayeth the Lord, and may the petty thief who took your life get the punishment that he deserves for such a heinous act.

God Bless this kind officer and marine. I will pray for his family and hope they find comfort once they have passed their grief. I hope they are financially and emotionallysupported.

It appears my comment was transfered to the story about the downed officer. I purposely went to the goat one and scrolled down to "post a comment". Sorry about this.

This is the best idea ever! Goats are incredibly clean and their ability to devour weeds down to the root is great. Briars? No problem. But I hope the public nearby doesn't cotton to the insane idea that goats will eat "anything including tin cans". That is totally false. Having had a small herd I can attest to the fact if a mouse runs across their feed, they refuse to eat it. They are sweet gentle animals which, unless it's a rainy day, you could eat a meal in their barn and not be offended by odor. Bucks (the males) can get rank. No doubt about that. But what we humans consider terrible smells, are like Aqua Velva to "the girls". If you own them they will follow you like their leader.

Despite what happened here, we should still strive to do random acts of kindness. Pay it forward.

what a sad waste of life..This man was a hero of not just his country, but his city he was a police officer in and to be killed by a thief is just sad and such a tragic waste...My hope his family and friends can find some comfort in knowing he is a hero.

This brave man made a difference in someone's life. How many of us ever do the little things or pass forward a kind gesture. If we did more of this and listened less to politics, we would all be better off. My thoughts are with his family and co-workers. He gave his all to serve and protect. This indeed takes a special person.

If I've learned anything in my 65 years of life, it's that being a "nice guy" really doesn't do you any good. This applies even within the family. Sad, but true. This police officer's sidewalk slaughter is a loss to his community, which apparently has some low lives in it. Glad the cops got the creep.

How sad that an act of kindness is ruined by a punk with a gun. I can't help but cry for this officers loss and also for his family. So, so sad. What possible excuse could that man have for shooting the officer? And yet there are those who oppose legislation to limit the sale of handguns. This lovely man might still be alive were it not for some fool with a gun. May God bless you Officer Henwood and may his light shine upon you.

I bet you're wrong.

http://www.nbcsandiego.com/news/local/127226128.html

The shooter was an African-American U.S. citizen, with a criminal record, using an illegally obtained firearm. He was subsequently put out of our misery by the police.

surprise surprise...
just goes to show to all the people in favor of limiting the sale of firearms, criminals will still find a way to get their hands on one, leaving good honest people with only their fists to defend themselves.
