Perseid Meteor Shower Sounds: Space Surveillance Radar Captures Celestial Audio (LISTEN)

LISTEN: Sounds Of A Meteor Shower

Hey space fans and audiophiles, turn those speakers up to 11.

The following sound clip captured by the U.S. Air Force Space Surveillance Radar in Texas is the "recorded echoes" of the Perseid meteor shower.

Pretty far out, if we don't say so ourselves.

Given that a full moon restricted many people from having the pleasure of viewing the most recent Perseid showing, at least they can now take a listen.

This particular clip was posted by the Science.com YouTube channel, VideoFromSpace.

The Perseid meteor shower, also known as the "Tears of St. Lawrence," is believed to have been observed nearly 2000 years ago, according to AstronomyLive, and is consistently anticipated among the most spectacular natural phenomena of the night skies.
