Josh Groban Joins 'The Office' As Andy Bernard's Brother

The Office

First Posted: 08/18/11 06:22 PM ET Updated: 10/18/11 06:12 AM ET

Josh Groban is making a serious run at this acting thing.

Following his turn as Emma Stone's hokey lawyer boyfriend in "Crazy, Stupid, Love.," the singer has now signed on to feature in the upcoming season of "The Office," Deadline reports. Groban will play the brother of Andy Bernard, who is portrayed by Ed Helms.

The Bernard clan is a rich, accomplished family from the upper crust, so it could be a similar type turn for the classical singer. And given Andy's musical talents -- a capella, anyone? -- a family duo could be rocking Scranton. Or, something like that.

The news comes after new details about James Spader's new CEO character, Robert California, were revealed in a recent Entertainment Weekly article, and following a rash of famous guest stars that appeared in the closing episodes of last season. That star-studded list included Will Ferrell, Will Arnett, Jim Carrey, Ray Romano and Rickey Gervais.

Groban is just the latest member of the Bernard family to sign on for the show; to see the rest, click over to Deadline.

I've never watched The Office, but I sure won't miss an episode now! I love Josh Groban!

Me, too! I hope he sings a lot around 'The Office'!

Surely they can work it into the script to have a shirtless Groban.

I just saw him yesterday on a rerun of "Ally McBeal", and he was very good! I was surprised. So if he was funny 10 years ago, he must STILL be, no?

Soooooo....

When does cousin Oliver arrive to sound the final death note for this show??

Have him rock out with Creed on the guitar and Kevin on the drums. They could practice in the warehouse at lunch, which would be a great name for them - The Lunch Breaks.

"I know exactly what he's talking about. I sprout mung beans on a damp paper towel in my desk drawer. Very nutritious, but they smell like death."

If they're giving Ed Helms a whole family, then it sounds like he will be center stage, which is great, because he's just as unique a comic talent as Steve Carell. I love Josh Groban and hope he can act at least half as good as he sings.

After Jim and Pam got married, it just wasn't funny anymore. I haven't watched it since.

It at least piqued my curiosity. Josh Groban is actually a very funny guy. So who knows? Ought to give it a chance before assuming negative things.

Nothing and nobody is going to revive this show !

Bring back the innovative Pushing Daisies (that barely got a chance to shine). . .

and get rid of the WAY past-its-prime Office once and for all. .
