Ignoring Ron Paul: What We've Been Thinking About Instead (PHOTOS)

First Posted: 08/18/11 02:02 PM ET   Updated: 10/18/11 06:12 AM ET

Recently, Jon Stewart called out the media for ignoring the candidacy of Ron Paul, and a new statistical analysis supports that claim.

But it's not just the media, it's all of us. Americans in general are ignoring the scrappy GOP candidate, but not because we find Mitt Romney or Michele Bachmann so much more interesting. It's simply because we have a lot of other things on our minds.

So by way of an apology, we've dipped into the stock photography well to show you exactly what it is we've been thinking about instead of Ron Paul.

'Community Organizer Becomes POTUS', should be this section's next story. Or, I know: 'Plus Size First Lady Plans Nutrition.'

I agree to a point with the posters who say that Ron Paul's ideas look good until you look deeper and see him relinquishing all government control to corperation. Where I disagree is what they think would be a better idea. They want more regulations and infrastructure, I want even less.
I am all for making your local mayor the most powerful polititian you ever hear of. Federal government should only be the millitary and be used only to defend our borders. We the People should be free to defend ourselves from corperate tyrany through the use of local civilian militia.

Go ahead and ignore the only candidate that has morals and a plan to fix our problems. The utter stupidity of the American people that let the media tell them what to think and who to vote for is what is destroying our country. If you don't vote for Ron Paul, you deserve what you get. So be sure and go out there and vote for another corporate puppet with a nice smile and a smooth line,he\she will tell you what you want to hear, and then stab you in the back after the election. The fact that the media is ignoring him should be your first clue that maybe HE IS the best man for the job.

Is this article serious? Americans want to hear more about Ron Paul not less. Just because they have things goin on in their lives doesn't mean they don't want to learn more about Ron Paul. It's the media's job to report fair coverage and this is another biased example of that fair coverage.

There are several reasons this is in the Comedy section.

One of them is the inevitable indignant RPZombie super defensive replies.

Dr. Insane....wants to do away with the Fed...abortions and the 14th Amendment to the Constitution....someone who likes gold instead of cash...it would be hard for Americans to walk around with gold bars in their pockets...no thanks...

Yeah I was just joking cause the whole thing was about the media ignoring him.

He certainly is a wacko.

"Your question is too simplified. I am against the wars, but I also know and understand that Dr. Paul and his son are blatant racist who would set the Civil Rights of others back a hundred years...so thanks, but no thanks....we have enough racism problems in this country already,we do not need any more, especially from a president who wants to turn my rights over to the states...he would come in destroying the 14th Amendment.... "

You say that you are against the wars, but you plan to vote for continuing them?

We need more honest politicians like Ron Paul who will tell us the truth.

Ron Paul has many great perspectives and should be listened to. You don't have to agree with him on everything but at least do not ignore him. He is one of the only honest politicians out there who has any chance at getting out a good message. He is anti-war, this is why he is shunned by the media.

And Paul is more about individual rights and individual RESPONSIBILITY, which scares the he** out of the left. The left want no personal responsibility - they just want big daddy telling them what to do.

Ron Paul is the only decent politician in Congress today.

Ya I don't understand the left. Never have. It is usual young people who let their emotions get the best of them. Heart in the right place but they are manipulated by politicians who want nothing but power. I consider myself liberal but not leftist, not statist, not democrat or republican. In my view the governments main job is to protect individuals rights.

Speak for yourself. There is no "we". You have a false perception of a group. He is one of the most respectable members of congress. The man has good ideas about many issues within our government and he deserves to be listened to. There is no good reason to ignore one of only a few anti-war congressmen in Washington.
