Golden Retriever Trained As Valet (VIDEO)

First Posted: 08/21/11 02:57 PM ET Updated: 10/21/11 06:12 AM ET

You might think your pet's "play dead" routine is pretty special, but it looks like a dog from Charleston, Maine has you beat.

Kaleigh, a six-year-old Golden Retriever, has learned how to save golfers a trip by valeting golf cart keys and bringing them back to the clubhouse, much to the amusement of her owners at the Whitetail Golf Course.

What's more, she really enjoys it! According to her owners, she started helping out on her own one day when a customer decided to test her smarts and she hasn't stopped since. Considering her breed, retrieving things is instinctual for this little lady, but it's still awesome that she enjoys lending a paw.

There should be a small Velcro pouch for tips on her collar.

Just saying.

I want to know that he has a 401K set up, generous medical insurance and a nice retirement plan... so that he will be taken care of the rest of his life when he retires. Let's take back our country, one dog at a time. You see Perry, this dog, he DOES hunt.

I used to have a cat who could open the kitchen drawers with his claws. One day he opened the draw with the cat nip in it.

So he and the kitten rolled around all day while I was at work in a whole bag of catnip.

They were like little space cadets by the time I got home that evening.

He also helped himself to anything left on the counter to defrost for dinner. Sometimes they would leave me a crumb. Mostly not.

Same here...they find that nip, no matter where I put it! I had a little white cat, who decided to check out the pork chops defrosting on the counter. She never did this before, so I never gave it a thought about leaving meat out, and wasn't gone that long. However, when I got home I found lots of little bite marks in one chop where she managed to remove the wrapper...and she was laying sideways and looking a little bit green right under the table. She was fine by the way, threw it up and all was well. Never did that again! Me or her!

I love Goldens! Mine will retrieve anything but will never give it up without a fight and a lot of slobber. He's the greatest anyway.

I've trained my chocolate lab to get the news paper in the mornings... and I camp with a family who's black lab will carry anything you give her and take it wherever you tell her to on their farm. She knows "horse barn" "upstairs" "pool" and "fire pit."

They absolutely LOVE doing it, too. My dog whines when I don't let her get the paper....

Yea, she seems real exploited. I guess she could go feral, but her species chose long ago that comfy nights by the fire and regular meals were a better deal.

TBH, knowing a thing or two about dogs, she probably thinks it's an awesome game and she is stoked to participate in the Human World (and gets a treat whenever she brings them back).

Making people happy makes them happy and what's wrong with that?

Not only dogs. Even cats can be smart, as well. A friend of mine had a cat who used to turn on the lights when night approached. Besides, when the telephone rang the cat used to do every thing to call the attention of our aint (who was a little bit deaf), the way she found to say "the telephone's ringing! run!" : she used to go to the bedroom and come back to the livingroom, running as fast as she could and make a lot of noise, only to call the attention of the old lady. I saw it with my very eyes! Amazing! That cat was so loved by all, a especial creature. These animals are blessings of God to us. I love cats and dogs, I love all nature!

Mr.(Kat) Mandu tries to open doors, warns with a particular sound when the lab is coming back from her walk, telling me II have to open the door, and would be able to open the taps (he likes watching the water running) if they were easier - it hasn't for lack of trying. Every now and then he manages to get ice from the dispenser in the fridge and makes a mess with it playing around with them as if it were ice hockey (the ice being the puck and his paws, the stick)

He's also very cheeky so, every time he wants to go outside his supervised boundaries, he watches over his shoulders to check whether I'm following him. If I am, he falls down to the ground, pretending he's admiring "nature" and taking in some fresh air.

99% of the time though, he's part of the pack/pride with the two dogs, and the three of them follow me EVERYWHERE.

I also have some really wild kitties.
Zoomzoom and rallyracer travel with me to the races. They have their own race car beds, Ferrari collars, and the race drivers kids take turns walking and sitting them.
Zoomzoom has had his picture taken for a racing pet book, and Rally loves to wander around in the pits and sit in the race car seats.
