MEXICO CITY -- The mayor of a village in central Mexico was found dead Saturday one day after he was kidnapped, security officials said, bringing to five the number of mayors killed in the country this year.

"In the morning, we found a corpse in the town of El Pochote, and we confirmed in the afternoon that it was (Zacualpan Mayor) Jesus Eduviges Nava," a security official from southern Guerrero state told AFP by telephone.

It is so sad that Mexico can't get this wave of violence under control. Kidnappings are common and that is why wealthy there have to have body guards. If you are visiting Mexico City, you are warned on which taxi companies are safe. The gangs and drug warlords seem to not care at all about their country. I think if I lived there, I would probably try to sneak into the U.S.A also. We have our own crime here, but in Mexico it seems systemic and I think it will never change.
