Asni Omar, Malaysian Businessman, Charged With Murdering French Tourist After Demanding Sex

Malaysian Man Charged With Murdering Tourist After She Refused Sex

Malaysian authorities charged a local businessman with the murder of French woman after she allegedly refused his sexual advances earlier this year.

As the AFP is reporting, 36-year-old Asni Omar was charged with the murder of Stephanie Foray, a 30-year-old civil servant whose remains were found buried in a cave on the resort island of Tioman, off the east coast of Malaysia. The pair had been previously drinking together on the island on or around May 8, when Foray was reported to be last seen alive.

Local police believe Foray was killed after she refused to have sex with Omar, though it is not yet known if she had been sexually assaulted. As Asia One is reporting, Omar led police to the cave where had disposed of Foray's remains, located some 100 meters behind his wooden house, earlier this month.

The Malaysian Star reports that Omar did not enter a plea, only nodding his head after the charge was read to him by a court interpreter. If convicted, he could face the death penalty.
