POTUS Plays Golf As Obamas Vacation Continues

UPDATE, 1:39 pm: President Obama spent the morning decidedly not on vacation, with briefings on Hurricane Irene, which could eventually impact Martha's Vineyard. As of now, there's been no change to the president's scheduled Saturday departure.

A day after an earthquake gently rocked the Eastern Seaboard, President Obama enters day six of his vacation on Martha's Vineyard, the tony island retreat off Cape Cod.

On Tuesday, Obama spent part of the afternoon playing golf with Vernon Jordan, Marvin Nicholson and Eric Whitaker. He wasn't in finest golf form, according to a pool report that, on the first hole, the president "stepped up to his ball, which was several feet from the hole, and made two practice strokes. He missed the hole on his first putt, but got it close. He then tried to tap it in, but missed again. He appeared to pick up the ball to let the others in his party play through as he watched."

The president also took a conference call on the East Coast Quake on the greens Tuesday. Today he'll take time away from bike rides and golf to focus on approaching Hurricane Irene, reports USA Today.
