Ashton Kutcher Keeps 'Two And A Half Men' Details Secret, Harassed By Letterman (VIDEO)

In what was a CBS executive's ultimate dream scenario, Ashton Kutcher appeared on "The Late Show with David Letterman" on Wednesday to tease, hype up and ultimately give tantalizingly little information about his new role on the network's flagship sitcom, "Two and a Half Men."

Donning a flak jacket to make light of the recent threats issued against Letterman's show, Kutcher largely kept a zipped lip about his debut episode on the show, allowing only that Charlie Sheen's character dies and that his character, Walden Schmidt, is depressed and also may have tried to commit suicide.

Kutcher did, however, promise that the show will be great -- "I think it's going to go through the roof, I really do. I've been laughing really hard," he said -- and revealed his inspiration for coming on board: Robin Williams.

The Oscar-winner, Kutcher said, stopped by the set of "That 70s Show" and told friend Kurtwood Smith about his desire to go back to do sitcoms, something that stayed with him all these years later.

"And I never forgot that when I was on 'That '70s Show,'" Kutcher said, "because I never forgot what we had, and how great and how fun the job was and how incredible it was, and how great it is go to work every day and make people laugh."
