Steve Jobs' Turtlenecks: Iconic Style Of A Tech Legend (PHOTOS)

The Huffington Post     First Posted: 08/25/11 09:55 AM ET   Updated: 10/25/11 06:12 AM ET

As the tech world looks back on all the iconic moments of Steve Jobs' professional tenure at Apple, we'd like to take a second to marvel at his style. It is sort of amazing that a man who brought so many innovative creations to the tech world and had little to do with fashion managed to develop, perhaps unconsciously, such an iconic style: when we think of Steve Jobs, we think of black turtlenecks.

Some have tried to mimic his sartorial simplicity (in June, when tech geeks figured out one of the sweater brand's Jobs wears, the company, VONROSEN, was flooded with orders), but few can recreate it.

So in honor of Steve Jobs' accomplished career, we've assembled a collection of the tech guru's best black turtleneck sweaters -- because you have to respect a man who, while trying to wear the most inconspicuous fashion possible, created a fashion all his own.

He has been married since 1991, and he has four children; I looked it up on wikipedia when the announcement regarding his resignation came up.

He has a fantastic marriage. He met his wife at NeXT when she had a catering business and after a while they became an item, later marrying. Formerly my boss, twice over, he's a classy man, and his wife really is his balance. They were fortunate to find one another. It's a very cut throat business so for him to have that support and balance at home is very rare.

He's so slim.

I wish him all the best and I hope he can spend as much time with his family as he can. He taught so many people, with his life, how to fearlessly live your dream.

"Almost everything – all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure - these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart." -Steve Jobs

Well we all pretty much know this is less about the turtlenecks and more about his declining weight and health. We as readers are not ignorant. Just call it like it really is Huff Post...enough of the smoke and mirrors headlines.

The writer's way of disguising their lack of class is by saying they are reporting on his 'turtle neck' when in fact, they are talking about his weight loss. Classless people working for this web site.

There's absolutely nothing to see or display, we ALL know what it's like when someone is dieing of cancer. THEY LOSE WEIGHT!!!!

I never could understand how anyone could wear a turtleneck. To me, it always feels like I'm being strangled.

I'm no fashionista but isn't this a mock turtleneck? Technically speaking, of course.
01:14 PM on 08/25/2011
Yes, he wears mock turtlenecks. Turtlenecks fold over :)
12:28 PM on 08/25/2011
In point of fact, it's a mock turtleneck.

You can see the poor guy getting thinner and thinner as the years go by. Hopefully his health improves, now that he has the time to look after himself.
