Vaccines Generally Safe And Side Effects Are Rare, Institute Of Medicine Says

Vaccines Safe

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 08/25/11 01:09 PM ET Updated: 10/25/11 06:12 AM ET

After reviewing more than 1,000 studies on the subject, a panel of experts from the Institute of Medicine released a report Thursday stating vaccines cause very few side effects. They also did not find evidence of a link between vaccines and autism or Type 1 diabetes.

The review is the most comprehensive on the subject in 17 years. The authors of the report write that it is not intended to answer the question of whether vaccines are safe, but to help quantify the risk of specific adverse events so that "other bodies," such as government agencies and care providers, can better weigh the risks and benefits.

The question of whether vaccines cause potentially dangerous side effects is an old one. One concern is that an immunization will give children the very disease it is meant to protect them from -- a common fear for flu vaccines -- or that it will cause a separate disease, such as autism. Critics are simply not 100 percent certain vaccines are safe.

The authors of the exhaustive new report say they made use of the best evidence currently available. Eight vaccines were examined: the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine, vaccines that contain tetanus, the hepatitis B vaccine, the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine, the varicella vaccine for chickenpox, the influenza vaccine, the meningococcal vaccine and the diphtheria-tetanus-acellular pertussis (DTaP) vaccine.

Experts on the panel looked at the research to see whether it "convincingly supports," "favors acceptance" or "favors rejection" of a causal effect between vaccines and diseases and side effects. They found that the MMR vaccine was not linked with autism, and that the DTaP vaccine was not linked with Type 1 diabetes. In addition, the panel found that the flu vaccine was not linked with Bell's palsy or worsened asthma.

However, the panel did find some side effects associated with the vaccines, particularly among people with immune system problems. For example, the MMR vaccine was linked with seizures, as well as brain inflammation in immunocompromised people. Some of the vaccines were also identified as triggers for the allergic reaction anaphylaxis.

Barbara Loe Fisher, co-founder and president of the nonprofit National Vaccine Information Center, told The Huffington Post the most important takeaway of the new report is that there's still inadequate evidence in scientific literature "either way" in terms of causation. She dismissed the characterization of her group as anti-vaccine, saying that it is pro-education and pro-informed consent.

"The researcher priorities in this country are such that there is very little going on in vaccine safety science," Fisher told HuffPost. "In the meantime, doctors need to become partners with parents in informed consent. This push for oppressive one-size fits-all mandates from pharma and from organizations is not helping the situation. We need to make sure we're not bullied."

Perhaps the most hot-button vaccine included in the report is the MMR vaccine, which some parents and providers are concerned is linked with autism. The idea was first raised in a 1998 Lancet study by Andrew Wakefield, a British doctor who has since been stripped of his medical license. The study was called an "elaborate fraud" earlier this year in an investigation published in the British Medical Journal. But many parents still fear the potential of a link between the MMR vaccine and autism.

The federal Interagency Autism Coordinating Committee (IACC) is currently investigating a link between environmental factors and autism, including autism as a clinical outcome of vaccination.

The agency acknowledges that no epidemiological studies -- which involve tracking associations between the disease and people who have received vaccinations -- have so far shown a relationship between autism and thimerosal-containing vaccines. However, it said that these studies are "limited in their ability" to detect small groups of people who could be genetically more vulnerable to environmental factors for autism. The agency also said it would monitor any research exploring links between vaccines and autism.

The new Institute of Medicine report also examined potential side effects of flu shots. It specifically looked at whether the flu vaccine caused Bell's palsy, a paralysis of the facial nerve, or exacerbated asthma. The report found no association.

Many consumers harbor fears that the flu vaccine, which contains deactivated flu virus, could cause flu-like symptoms. A recent Consumer Reports study shows only about half of pregnant women got a flu shot during the last flu season. Women who chose not to get the shot feared risks to the baby and were afraid getting the vaccine would result in contracting the flu, according to Consumer Reports.

Some doctors also question the safety of the flu vaccine. Mark Hyman, M.D., an internationally recognized authority in the field of functional medicine, conducted and published on The Huffington Post a round-up of the evidence, concluding there is not enough scientific proof that flu vaccines actually work.

The official government stance from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is that everyone who is eligible should get a flu shot because vaccines are the best way to protect against the flu and keep the disease from spreading, a concept known as "community immunity."

And most doctors and health agencies are still strong proponents of childhood vaccinations. Some doctors are even turning away patients who choose not to follow the childhood immunization schedule, ABC News reported.

"[The] committee members spent an enormous amount of time reading thousands of articles," the Institute of Medicine report states. "Some of the conclusions were easy to reach ... some conclusions required substantial discussion and debate. Inevitably, there are elements of expert clinical and scientific judgment involved."

Catherine Pearson contributed reporting.

Complexities of Vaccine Administration and Efficacy

Population differences in immune responses to Bacille Calmette-Guérin vaccination in infancy.

We hypothesized that Mtb PPD-induced IFN-gamma after BCG vaccination would be similar in infants from these 2 countries. Infants were vaccinated with BCG during the first 3-13 weeks of life.

Three months after BCG vaccination, 51 (100%) of 51 UK infants had an IFN-gamma response to Mtb PPD, compared to 41 (53%) of 78 of Malawian infants, in whom responses varied according to their season of birth.

We conclude that population differences in immune responses after BCG vaccination are observed among infants, as well as among young adults.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BCG Vaccination Induces Different Cytokine Profiles Following Infant BCG Vaccination in the UK and Malawi.

"We found differences in median responses in 27 of the 42 cytokines: 7 higher in the UK and 20 higher in Malawi. The cytokines with higher responses in the UK were all T helper 1 related.

The cytokines with higher responses in Malawi included innate proinflammatory cytokines, regulatory cytokines, interleukin 17, T helper 2 cytokines, chemokines, and growth factors."

A proinflammatory cytokine is a cytokine which promotes systemic inflammation.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Different population cohorts have differing immunological responses to vaccines.

How may this apply to the research undertaken by the IoM in regards to such issues neurodevelopmental disorders such as Autism ?

You would need to investigate the physiology of autistic patients such as their brain tissue and CSF and have controls.

Sounds easy enough ...

Elevated immune response in the brain of autistic patients

http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0165572808004906

Our results showed that proinflammatory cytokines (TNF-α, IL-6 and GM-CSF), Th1 cytokine (IFN-γ) and chemokine (IL-8) were significantly increased in the brains of ASD patients compared with the controls.

Neuroglial activation and neuroinflammation in the brain of patients with autism.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15546155

We demonstrate an active neuroinflammatory process in the cerebral cortex, white matter, and notably in cerebellum of autistic patients. Immunocytochemical studies showed marked activation of microglia and astroglia, and cytokine profiling indicated that macrophage chemoattractant protein (MCP)-1 and tumor growth factor-beta1, derived from neuroglia, were the most prevalent cytokines in brain tissues. CSF showed a unique proinflammatory profile of cytokines, including a marked increase in MCP-1.

Our findings indicate that innate neuroimmune reactions play a pathogenic role in an undefined proportion of autistic patients.

Activation of the Inflammatory Response System in Autism

http://content.karger.com/ProdukteDB/produkte.asp?Aktion=ShowAbstract&ProduktNr=224082&Ausgabe=227590&ArtikelNr=48665

These results suggest that autism may be accompanied by an activation of the monocytic (increased IL-1RA) and Th-1like (increased IFN-=γ) arm of the IRS. It is hypothesized that increased production of proinflammatory cytokines could play a role in the pathophysiology of autism.

Vaccines and Safety

I have no problems stating quite clearly vaccines are the most important medical intervention of our time along with antibiotics. As such all my family are vaccinated on time and on schedule....and will continue to do so.

There are new understandings beginning to emerge on the complex interplay of vaccines and the developing immune system.

These new understandings will unequivocally save lives not only in the developing word but the developed world.

http://en.scientificcommons.org/peter_aaby

Importantly the research shows some vaccines BCG have a 'protective effect' over other disease / infections. But also some have a 'negative effect" most notably high titre measles and DTP

http://jid.oxfordjournals.org/content/204/2/182.full

"There is now clear evidence that the simplistic conventional model of immunization is invalid"

http://adc.bmj.com/content/95/9/662.extract

"How you respond to a vaccine is influenced by the infections and immunisations you have had in the past, and the vaccine you are given today will influence your future response to immunisation with other vaccines and your future response to infections — including infections with unrelated (heterologous) organisms."

http://adc.bmj.com/content/96/1/115.1.full

"When DTP was first introduced into Guinea-Bissau mortality was 11.3 per 100 person-years among children given DTP, and 5.1 per 100 person-years among children who did not receive DTP"

How does this relate to the developed world ?

It should lead us to revaluate and investigate the possible relationship (temporal or not ) between DTP family of vaccines and Severe Adverse Events including SIDS.

The Institute of Medicine had no epidemiological evidence to which it could give any weight to the relationship between DTP and SIDS.

Pragmatically that meant no science was done and in regards to exploration of a possible mechanism only three studies could be found.

But a perusal of the VAERS database finds this ...

Found 1508 events where Onset Interval is 0 or 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 or 6 or 7 and Vaccine is DPIPV or DPP or DT or DTAP or DTAPH or DTAPHEPBIP or DTAPIPV or DTAPIPVHIB or DTIPV or DTOX or DTP or DTPHEP or DTPHIB DTPIHI or DTPIPV or DTPPHIB and Patient Died

----------------------------------------------------------------------

1466 of those deaths were children/ infants 3 and under.

That's approximately 73 deaths reported a year.

Another 1319 events were life threatening and patient did not die.

6VAX-F - 27 (Diptheria Tetanus Pertussis)

HBHEPB - 142 deaths reported

HEP - 477

Flu (FLU or FLU(H1N1) or FLUN or FLUN(H1N1) or H5N1) - 59

HIBV - 934

HEPAB - 0

MEA - 1

MER - 0

MM - 1

MMR - 90

MMRV - 2

Rotavirus family ROT or ROTH1 or ROTHB5 - 166

VARCEL or VARZOS - 40

BCG - 13

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The 'temporal' association between vaccines varies enormously.

This would suggest that there is some sort of biological interplay between a 'type' vaccine and mortality.

For instance the DTaP family of vaccines has some 1508 events compared to the MMR 90 (both approx 90%+ vaccination rate).

So if vaccine and mortality is only 'temporal' why is there such a significant difference between vaccine events ?

The vast majority of people concur - vaccines are pretty safe and the benefits greatly outweigh any possible risks.

Latest data show continuing increase in vaccination rates:
http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/mm6034a2.htm?s_cid=mm6034a2_w

Also from the editorial:
"A recent economic analysis of the United States immunization policy indicated that vaccination of each U.S. birth cohort with the current childhood immunization schedule prevents approximately 42,000 deaths and 20 million cases of disease, with net savings of nearly $14 billion in direct costs and $69 billion in total societal costs"

Vaccines, in general, are safe. It stands to reason that some subsets of the population may have adverse reactions - that will be the case for any drug or treatment regimen even herbal medicine or nutritional therapy. We can't forget that regardless or how much attention is given to safety that there are always risks. I worry more about the increases we have seen in measles, mumps and meningococcal meningitis specifically due to fewer kids getting vaccinated. I prefer to err on the side of caution and almost always recommend vaccination.
However, I will say that practitioners can do a better job of explaining to parents and caregivers the potential risks and the benefits of vaccinations as well as what to expect post vaccination.

United States Medical Research

The work undertaken in the United States is at the forefront of medicine. In no other country will you see so many eminent institutions and researchers investigate a vast array of medical matters. Nowhere on this planet will you see the modern technology that can be focussed on any medical condition or mystery.

No where else are vast sums of money( billions upon billions of dollars) spent on medical research and the deployment of hundreds of thousands of personnel , researchers , doctors etc etc.

But when the IoM releases a report on Vaccines and Autism it can not find one single solitary robust epidemiological study that has been undertaken by US researchers and focusses on the US population.

When the IoM looks at Vaccines and SIDS not one epidemiological study can be referenced.

Tragic, I know, but seeing as how there are around 20 million vaccine shots given each year to infants, a coincidence like this is bound to happen quite often statistically.
I reckon if VAERS kept records of how many kids died of SIDS within a day of a rainbow being spotted in the sky they would run to several pages of entries.

Did most journalists even read the report before crafting this article's title?
Or did they just glance at the press release?

From page 541 of the review: "This report is not intended to answer the question 'Are vaccines safe?' The committee was not charged with answering that question.'"

Oh, and the Associated Press, in their coverage of the report listed 14 side effects including:

Fever-triggered seizures from the measles-mumps-rubella, or MMR, vaccine.

MMR also can cause a rare form of brain inflammation in some people with immune problems.

The varicella vaccine against chickenpox sometimes triggers that viral infection, resulting in widespread chickenpox or a painful relative called shingles. It also occasionally can lead to pneumonia, hepatitis or meningitis.

Six vaccines — MMR and the chickenpox, hepatitis B, meningococcal and tetanus-containing vaccines — can cause severe allergic reactions known as anaphylaxis.

Vaccines in general sometimes trigger fainting or a type of shoulder inflammation.

There's suggestive evidence but not proof of a few other side effects, including anaphylaxis from the human papillomavirus, or HPV, vaccine and short-term joint pain in some women and children from the MMR vaccine.

That doesn't mean there aren't other side effects — the review couldn't find enough evidence to decide about more than 100 other possibilities. Some vaccines are just too new to link to something really rare. Flu shots have long come with a caution about rare, paralyzing Guillain-Barre syndrome,

Side effects that might occur and which are vanishingly rare are almost impossible to detect statistically without major post-introduction surveillance studies.

The Chinese did one after they gave out 90 million shots of the swine flu vaccine 2 years ago. They found only 11 cases of Guillain Barre syndrome - a lower rate than would be found naturally in the background population.

The flu shots come with a warning because they saw a slight increase back 50 years ago with a mass swineflu immunization drive in the US. They have never really seen GBS as a complication of flu vaccine since, but being careful and erring on the side of overcaution, they still keep warnings in place.

"The identification of clusters of cases of T1DM occurring in consistent temporal time periods allowed a link between the hemophilus vaccine and T1DM to be established. The current findings indicate the there are also clusters of cases of T1DM occurring 2-4 years post-immunization with the pertussis, MMR, and BCG vaccine. The data are consistent with the occurrence of clusters following mumps infection and the progression to T1DM in patients with antipancreatic autoantibodies."
•In the late 1960's, an experimental vaccine in development, the RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) vaccine killed two infants, and a staggering 80 percent of all children who received it were hospitalized with severe respiratory disease.

A report issued eight years later concluded that the reason for this abysmal failure was because the children's antibodies did not bind to the inactivated virus to produce a protective immune response, meaning their immune system could not recognize the infectious invader. Instead, the dead virus circulated throughout their bodies, triggering a massive immune system attack.

A similar thing happened with an early version of polio (the Cutter incident). Such things very occasionally happened half a century ago in the early days of vaccine research.

Just be thankful our researchers are ever vigilant and are constantly trying to make better and safer vaccines. They clearly have succeeded to a major extent, since such events are extremely rare.
11:09 PM on 08/29/2011
And I might add that by the time a vaccine is released to the general public, you can be pretty certain that they won't produce such dreadful effects in more than a vanishingly small number of those who receive them.

Cancer happens when the cells divide uncontrollably. That happens as a result of the mutations in genes that control cell division or processes such as programmed cell death. Once those cells lose the control, they just divide, they don't fight off anything. Mutation happens as a result of the toxic effect not as a defense against it. Bodies defenses against toxins are white blood cells or filtering organs such as liver or kidney. Cancer doesn't happen as a result of a fight off against toxins. That sounds like a definition a 5 year old would make.

LOL, you're awesome ! You make a horrendous attempt to insult me, which is not possible by the way, by comparing me to a 5 year old. But yet you admit it's a mutation in your argument. And the reason the white blood cells and filtering organs don't and can't defend against these toxins, is because they are alien to them since they are created by man in laboratories.

•In 2007, it became clear that the mass use by children of the vaccine, Prevnar, to prevent pneumoccocal disease that can cause meningitis and deadly bloodstream infections in young children, has unleashed a superbug that is resistant to all currently available drugs.
•In the U.S., Prevnar vaccine was licensed in 2000 and has been given to infants in four shots between the age of 2 months and 15 months. The vaccine originally covered seven and now covers 13 of the 90-odd strains of the strep bacteria. Although pneumoccocal disease, caused by seven pneumoccoal strains in the 7- valent Prevnar vaccine, declined after widespread use, one pneumoccocal strain called 19A developed super resistance and is now causing pneumoccocal disease that is antibiotic-resistant. In 2010, the FDA licensed a 13-valent pneumococcal vaccine to cover more strains, including 19A.
•Certain vaccines have also been linked to a rise in type 1 diabetes in a number of studies. One such study, published in 2003, to further investigate this connection concluded that clusters of cases of type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) may be linked to six different vaccines: the haemophilus influenza B (HIB), pertussis, MMR, and BCG vaccine. The authors stated:

19a is not some "superbug" in the same category as MRSA or ESBL, it is merely one of the many strains of strep. pneumoniae which can cause disease.

Understandably, as the rate of infection with non 19a strains plummeted with the introduction of the 7 valent version of the vaccine, there was a *relative* rise in cases caused by non vaccine strains, including 19a.

The new vaccine covers 19a as you say, so problem solved.

One last thing, here's a few facts.

•Vaccinating all children against chickenpox can increase the risk of adult shingles. Shingles, also known as herpes zoster, is a painful blistering rash that is potentially dangerous in the elderly. According to researchers at Britain's Public Health Laboratory Service (PHLS), while vaccination might save thousands of lives over time, thousands of elderly people may also suffer the painful effects of shingles and even die prematurely from the complications of shingles.

Interestingly enough, instead of reconsidering the strategy of vaccinating all children to prevent their exposure to a common childhood infection that is harmless for 99.9 percent of children and protects adults from getting shingles, the pharmaceutical industry simply responded by creating a shingles vaccine for seniors. The shingles vaccine, according to some studies, has been shown to prevent shingles about half the time.
•Of the children who contracted chickenpox in an outbreak in Maryland in 2001, 75 percent of the affected had been vaccinated against the disease.
•Similarly, last year the US experienced the largest outbreak of mumps since 2006. More than 1,000 people in New Jersey and New York fell ill, yet 77 percent of those sickened were vaccinated against mumps.

I don't think you know what zoster is. Getting chickpox doesn't protect you from zoster. It is zoster. The virus goes dormant and comes out sometimes when immunocompromised; such as due to age or disease. Vaccinating children does not put adults at any greater risk. In all likelihood, it will prevent those children from ever getting zoster, though only time will tell on that one.

Misinformation.

Shingles is due to reactivation of latent varicella zoster virus. It usually affects the elderly because, even though they were infected with VZV when they were young, their immunity fades and they then reactivate the infection which causes a skin rash. It's unpleasant, but can be treated very successsfully with antivirals.

Elderly people are getting more shingles because they are missing out on the "natural" immune boost of re-exposure to chickenpox. The idea is to give the elderly a vaccine boost to ensure that this happens more consistently.

Shingles has always occured in the elderly, even before vaccination against childhood vaccines came along. In fact there would be an excellent case for routinely vaccinating every 50-60 year old with a shingles VZV vaccine booster, irrespective of any childhood VZV vaccine program.

Okay so Britains Public Health Laboratory Service just made that up ? Regardless of that, what about the outbreaks I mentioned above that prove that vaccines don't work ?!?!? What about the polio rates being on a steady decline for almost 100 years before the vaccine was introduced. And after the vaccine was introduced there wa an INCREASE in polio outbreaks. Or how about this, countries that have refused polio and smallpox vaccinations were still able to control and eradicate the diseases. How ? It's called our immune systems !
11:18 AM on 08/29/2011
Let's forget about side effects and autism for now when talking about vaccines. Let's just talk ingredients, and then try and tell me that vaccines are safe and/or necessary. Formaldehyde (aka embalming fluid), there's also Formailn in there, which is another formaldehyde solution. Multiple forms of aluminum, salt, xanthan gum, multiple phosphates(derivitave of phosphoric acid), calcium chloride (main ingredient in ice melt, toxic), multiple acids (hydrochloric, saline, phosphoric, citric, etc.), Glycol p-isooctylphenyl ether (laboratory detergent), Ethylene glycol (main ingredient in anti-freeze), gelatin, numerous sugars, mercury, silicon, yeast, and numerous other additives and preservatives. It's poison plain and simple ! You may ask why our government and doctors would allow us to be poisoned this way ? It's simple, vaccines are a billion dollar industry for Big Pharma. Do you know who gives the largest amount of lobby dollars (money paid to buy votes) to our government ? The medical industry, a big chunk of that being the pharmaceutical companies. And these same companies give bonuses and kickbacks to the very doctors we trust with our health for pushing and prescribing this poison. The best part is, if they didn't allow our food do be poisoned and altered, we wouldn't have the need for the majority of these vaccines. And the vaccines bypass our immune systems, which causes them to weaken.

OK, let's talk about formaldehyde.
It's in vaccines. At around 0.004% volume.

Formalin, the stuff used to embalm bodies, is 40% formaldehyde, some ten thousand times stronger.

You clearly know nothing about these compounds or you would know they are one and the same, just given different names at different concentrations.

The human body naturally produces in a day through hepatic metabolism more formaldehyde than in in any vaccine. There is more formaldehyde in foods infants ingest than in any vaccine.

And the last thing I have to say is this. What do I have to gain by speaking the truth, and/or questioning the junk that's being fed to us ? The asnwer is, nothing but the fact that I want us all to be free, healthy, peaceful people. What does the corporations and our government have to lose ? Everything ! Their credibility and record profits. The control that they think they have over us. We are not here to serve the government, the government is supposed to serve the people. But instead the United States has turned into a corporation, top to bottom. You're not a human being to them, you're a debt slave with a 9 digit number.

Good question. It’s a front group for the pharmaceutical industry and receives tens of millions of dollars from them to spread propaganda.

I fully support your decision to steer clear of all pharmaceutical drugs, and I sincerely hope that you stand your ground and never take a single dose of their medicine, under any circumstances.

I see.

Because the so called "vaccine pharma industrial complex" allegedly relied on "vaccine-tracking information technology" from companies like Northrup Grumman, a weapons manufacturer supposedly with "a history of illegal international arms trafficking", that means that every scientific study, every clinical research project, every epidemiological analysis, every medical report that has ever been done on vaccines is complete bunkum?

Tinfoil hat time, I think.
Watch out for those black helicopters, buddy, - they may have been sent direct from Northrup Grumman.

Whenever I have questions about health issues, I always turn to Mike Adams, Health Ranger, over at Natural News... not! The USA Today Sudoku puzzle creator would be more qualified to write about medical news than any contributor to that laughable site you linked.

Epidemiological Studies under the Hammer - IOM

In the recent review of MMR and Autism conducted by the Institute of Medicines (IOM) they stated -

“The committee reviewed 22 studies to evaluate the risk of autism after the administration of MMR vaccine. Twelve studies were not considered in the weight of epidemiologic evidence because they provided data from a passive surveillance system lacking an unvaccinated comparison population or an ecological comparison study lacking individual level data."

* The major study by Honda Rutter a key piece of dogma was eliminated.

Five controlled studies (DeStefano et al., 2004; Richler et al., 2006; Schultz et al., 2008; Taylor et al., 2002; Uchiyama et al., 2007) had very serious methodological limitations that precluded their inclusion in this assessment.

* Another major epidemiological study is eliminated Taylor et al

The five remaining controlled studies (Farrington et al., 2001; Madsen et al., 2002; Mrozek-Budzyn et al., 2010; Smeeth et al., 2004; Taylor et al., 1999) contributed to the weight of epidemiologic evidence.

(Mrozek- Budzyn et al., 2010) This study was rated as having serious limitations ...and thus is also eliminated.

Madsen et al. (2002) conducted a retrospective cohort study in children born in Denmark from January 1991 through December 1998.

Madsen looked at a completely different health system, vaccine and paediatric schedule and even vaccine apologists agree.

That leaves Taylor/Farrington and Smeeth.

* Farrington reassessed Taylor's data.

Pragmatically 2 out of the original 22 studies.

Take Home Message

1. The epidemiological evidence is very thin in pragmatic terms.

2. There is not a single epidemiological study that addresses United States of America demographics, vaccines or vaccine schedules.

Perhaps you are reading a different report?
(Or more like trying to re-interpret and confuse readers with your own amateur analysis?)

I see this:

"The committee has a high degree of confidence in the epidemiologic evidence based on four studies with validity and precision to assess an association between MMR vaccine and autism; these studies consistently report a null association."

and:

"The committee assesses the mechanistic evidence regarding an association between MMR vaccine and autism as lacking."

...and when we check the Farrington 2001 research we find the list of researchers are

C.Paddy Farrington,, Elizabeth Miller and Brent Taylor from ...

Department of Statistics, The Open University

Immunisation Division, Public Health Laboratory Service

Centre for Community Child Health, Royal Free Campus

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So Taylor and Miller goes over his own data and republishes. Probably because the data and statistical outcomes were ... well read below.

This is what the IoM said of the original study ...

"had very serious methodological limitations that precluded their inclusion in this assessment."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Casts a rather big shadow over that evidence looks like there's only Smeeth left.....

The Institute of Health should study the cost of toxic drugs, toxic vaccinations, toxic screenings and toxic treatments. These costs are in the trillions. We all thought that health insurance companies were the problem and historically their behavior has been deplorable. But we have ignored the elephant in the room, big pharma. We may find an ally in the new requirements mandated by law of health insurers in this country. They can no longer kick sick patients out so they have to find another mechanism to bring down the high cost of health care and maintain their profits. This is your opportunity, health insurance industry, go after the doctors and health care providers that are sucking the tit of the pharmaceutical companies, medical device manufacturers and the trillion dollar scanning industry. Go after them with a vengence and safe the remaining population from mass poisoning and safe your profits from extinction.

Well I guess you never worked as an auditor for the DHHS/OIG/OA now did you. I take it you're a doctor and trying to protect your interests or you work for big pharma. In any case this is the future for the medical industrial complex. The healthcare insurance industry will not be able to sustain the costly mistakes-for-profits of big pharma. It's truly irrelevant what you or I think, they will fail if they don't contain their costs and the profits of big pharma has a direct impact on the profits of the healthcare insurance industry. Just wait and see how they things are going to change.
