Earlier this week, In Touch Weekly reported that Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith are splitting after thirteen years of marriage. Their publicist was apparently late to the news; when TMZ called for comment, she replied "What? In Touch said that? I know nothing about this...Lord. I'm going back to bed."

Though in typical celebrity fashion, Will and Jada issued a statement later that afternoon. "Although we are reluctant to respond to these types of press reports, the rumors circulating about our relationship are completely false. We are still together, and our marriage is intact," they said.

For Will and Jada, the rumors may be just that, but for many stars, rumors often give way to reality. Below, seven celebrity couples that denied divorce rumors, only to split shortly thereafter. Click through our list and add your own in the comments.

In July 2008, Madonna's spokeswoman Liz Rosenberg told People magazine that "There are no plans for Madonna and Guy to divorce."

Five days later, Madonna issued a statement of her own. "My husband and I are not planning on getting a divorce," she told the magazine.

By October of 2008, Rosenberg again released a statement on the couple's behalf--this time, announcing their split. "Madonna and Guy Ritchie have agreed to divorce after seven-and-a-half years of marriage," the statement said.
