Katy Perry VMAs 2011 PHOTOS: Hit Or Miss?

Katy Perry wore not one, not two, but three different looks for MTV's VMAs.

The Video of the Year winner channeled a Polynesian beauty queen for her red carpet look, matching her newly pink locks with an aqua, neon-trimmed, cut-out, sequined, beaded mini dress (yeah, there was a lot going on there) and the piece de resistance, a parasol.

Then the California gurl toned it down when presenting, wearing a sophisticated purple lace gown by Tom Ford.

But she blew it out of the water when accepting her Video of the Year award, stunning the audience in head-to-toe Christian Dior Couture (look 8, for those curious) complete with a plastic yellow cube for a hat.

I wouldn't call what she wears "fashion", but I do think Perry has a good sense of humour. I don't think she takes herself or what she does too seriously, she see's her "career" for what it is. Unlike pretentious Lady Gaga who seems to think wearing weird over the top outfits designed by someone else, is her "art". With that said I do like the dress Perry is wearing on the right.

Does she have a box on her head in the middle pic or is it levitating somehow? The outfit in the middle is atrocious, the first one is almost as bad, and the last one is just not great. The lavender hair doesn't flatter her either. Katy looked prettier before. Ever since Lady Gaga came on the scene, looking normal went right out the window. I think women look best when they look normal and natural. I have a lot of gray in my hair, and when I color, I color it back to its natural shade of black, not blonde, pink, or brassy orange. Looking natural is sexy and pretty.

She's young and beautiful. She can and does wear anything and everything. She looks cute, she looks edgy, she looks sophisticated. Katie's not for everyone, I agree, but for me, she's got it all. (Plus she's got Russell Brand!)
