'The Hunger Games' Teaser Trailer: VMA Debut By Jennifer Lawrence (VIDEO)

It wasn't much, but the rabid fans of Katniss and company got a first taste of the upcoming big screen epic, "The Hunger Games."

Introduced by star Jennifer Lawrence, who plays Katniss, the clip sees her running through the forest and firing her bow and arrow into the franchise's flaming logo.

Previous photos showed Lawrence, along with Josh Hutcherson, who plays Peeta, and Liam Hemsworth, who plays Gale.

The rest of the cast includes Elizabeth Banks as Katniss' guide Effie Trinket, Stanley Tucci as Caesar Flickerman, Donald Sutherland as President Snow and Woody Harrelson as Haymitch Abernathy.

The film, being shot right now in North Carolina, is due out in March.

One of the worst trailers I have ever seen. As a fan of the series, and film in general, this is an utter travesty. I could have shot that trailer in the woods near my house, and achieved impact than this trailer did. For a series that's going to try to compete with Harry Potter and Twilight, if this is the best they can muster, their in for a sad showing.

Great series. The problem with reading books two and three knowing the films are in production took me out of the story, wondering how they might do certain shots and sequences. Rated PG-13, I'm intrigued how they will capture the essence of the Games: they aren't pretty, thus, the film adaptations shouldn't be, either.

Looks good, the books are outstanding! My niece loved the first book, and I surprisingly enjoyed it since I believe it is geared toward teens. Jennifer Lawrence is a beautiful girl, I think she'll do Katniss some justice. I hope Hollywood doesn't ruin it.

What with the Potter franchise ending and the Twilight stuff running out of steam, Hollywood needs to find ways to Hock more crappy ware to the love-lorn teenage crowd. Of course this has to be done with a proper dose of fake brooding characters, some none-sense mythology, lot's of special FX of stuff glowing and glittering, etc. And if all goes well, the new franchise will launch a couple of careers that should burn hot for a few years before many of the said actors realize that their acting range does not go beyond the typical soap opera role.

Please don't compare the Hunger Games to Twilight. You obviously haven't read them, so don't judge based solely on bias. That being said, I completely understand why you would think that. Most teenagers love manufactured, uninspired crap. But, so do most adults.Trust me, these books are really, really great and NOTHING like Twilight. Suzanne Collins can actually write.

The whole idea is just an American sanitized version of the Japanese "Battle Royale" with a bit of "Running Man" mixed in.

Are those arrows fletched with aluminum plates, making them useless but future-ish looking?At least tell me they don't leave glowing blue Tron streaks in the air when fired.
