Don't Expect To See Chaz Bono In Outrageous 'Dancing With The Stars' Costumes

Chaz Bono is confirmed to take part in "Dancing With The Stars" this season but if you are hoping to see Cher’s son wiggle his hips in the outrageous costumes that have become associated with the show, think again.

“I will wear a tasteful tux,” Bono told me just before the big announcement when I asked him what he would wear on the Emmy's red carpet -- making it clear that the outrageous fashion his mom loves to wear isn’t his style or his fiancée Jenny’s.

“I doubt Jenny will be in Bob Mackie [one of his mother favorite designers]. Jenny is too classy, not that Bob isn’t,” Bono quickly added realizing exactly what he had just said about his mother. “I’m on bad feet here. I don’t see her doing Bob Mackie. I know she likes DVF. She wore her on Oprah.”

Currently getting into shape for the competition by hitting the gym, Bono is also busy making a follow-up special to his Emmy nominated documentary, "Becoming Chaz," for Oprah’s OWN network. Bono also Hopes at some point to write a book and a film for transgender teens -- he's also still working on that beard.

“I’m not going to shave,” for the Emmys Bono tells me. “I will trim and it will look ordered. I’m not going to shave for a while.”

Expect to see a hairy but tastefully dressed Chaz Bono Waltzing onto your TV for ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" season premiere on September 19.

That Jackie Kennedy "quote" seems to hold some relevance for you and I see you've used it a lot, but I don't really see the point you're trying to make with it. I'm sorry, I'm too distracted by the flagrant misuse of capital letters in this "article." HuffPo, I expect better. I know the term "reporter" is used pretty loosely around here, but knowing when to use capitals and when to use lowercase is a skill that second-graders are expected to grasp. There needs to be some sort of standard enforced.

What do you care if someone is born with the wrong sexual organs and takes steps to correct it? People are born with both sets, and correct it, and it is neither leftist nor a cultural degradation. If they can be born with both sets, they can be born with the wrong set. I suppose they could just live in misery, and that would somehow improve the culture for you. But it would not improve the culture for me.

So I have been wondering; are Jenny and Chaz still considered a lesbian couple? This one really confuses me as to Jenny's sexual orientation. She would have had to be a lesbian to hook up with Chaz initially, correct? So now they are pursuing a hetereo relationship once Chaz get's "the procedure"? I honestly am confused by the whole thing, glad it's not my life, just hope they are happy once it's over.

Jenny has been hit pretty hard by this, because she is a lesbian in terms of her sexual orientation. But she was already in love with Chaz before this transition, and when you are in love with somebody, they can lose their sexual organs and you are still in love with them. Apparently, we are learning, that they can lose their whole sexual identity, and love is love. Or maybe not - we'll just have to see. But I did watch a documentary about a man who in his late fifites and will grown children came out as a cross dresser, and not only did his wife still love him, but his children have come to accept it as well.

Thanks for the additional info. I have not really followed this story as it really doesn't make any sense to me. However I am not one to say what makes sense to someone else or try to restrict their choices. I love my husband but if he chose to become a woman, I do not necessarily think I could stay in a sexual relationship with him. Just hope it all works out for the two of them.

I saw an interview early this year right after the sex change where Chaz specifically made it clear that Jenny was BISEXUAL before meeting "Chastity" and leaned a bit more towards men. She made it clear that for that reason, it was not difficult for Jenny at all.

We are HUGE CHER fans, and although we have a little respect for Chaz, just because he is Cher's son, there's a huge part of us that feels sad, because Chastity Bono was such a pretty girl, and talented too, and we miss her. However, if Chaz is happy now, as a man, that's all that matters really, I guess.

Actually, Chaz does not have the same talents as he did when he was a woman; he told me over Twitter that he doesn't sing anymore, because his voice has dropped significantly.

You do change as a person when you undergo sex reassignment surgery; I can't believe anyone would say otherwise;

Unfortunately, there are cases where having a vagina and ovaries does not necessrily make a person a woman. On rare ocasions, a baby is born with BOTH sets of sex organs ..... they are called hermaphrodites (sp?).

When I was a child, there was a boy (around 17 or 18) named Elmer living next door to our house. He was always a little "different" and kept to himself for the most part. I don't remember ever seeing him have friends come over to his house. But, in the winter, he'd come outdoors and help the younger kids make snow slides then would lift us up so we could slide down. Elmer was very "sweet" to all of us.

I didn't find out until many years later that he had been born hermaphrodite and had surgery as a baby ..... his parents decided he should be a "boy". As I grew older and learned a great deal more about such things, I still feel to this day that Elmer had more female energy than male. With today's technology, I certainly hope things have improved over parents making an arbitrary decision about which sex their child should be without considering what is in the best interest of the child long term. I wonder if DNA would tell the difference between male and female in the case of these people. They certainly need all the help they can get.

Hermaphrodite is kind of a dead term, they're called intersex now. A DNA test would show that a intersex person is . They have they're own sex chromosomes that are unique to their gender. I think it is easier to see it as a completely sepreate gender (male, female, and intersexed). They are male and female. Most intersex people produce testosterone and estrogen in similar amounts as men and women, respectively. Some may have more estrogen or more testosterone but this doesn't make them "more woman" or "more man." It is very dangerous for a parent to "choose" a male or female sex for an intersex child because it may not reflect the identity of the child once they hit puberty, which is when most intersex individuals begin to "feel" either man or woman. Unfortunately, it's more difficult for intersex people because our society has a lot of rules surrounding gender, (Which lockeroom should they use at school?), pressuring them to be a gender that is contradictory to their sexual development.

Also, sexual orientation is different than transexualism and intersex. Someone may be a intersex person with a penis, who identifies as a woman, but is sexually attracted to women.

I will not be watching Dancing with the Stars this season. Chaz is just one more example of the evil that is talked about in the Bible during the last days. I want magnify the devil by watching him/her on Dancing with the stars or any other program. America step up to the plate and stop what is going on in this world today.
