White House Issues 9/11 Observance Guidelines (VIDEO)

The White House has issued guidelines on how the upcoming tenth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks should be commemorated.

In his weekly television address, President Obama spoke about rekindling the spirit of unity that prevailed in the country in the days after the horrific attacks.

We’ll also recall how the worst terrorist attack in American history brought out the best in the American people. How Americans lined up to give blood. How volunteers drove across the country to lend a hand. How schoolchildren donated their savings. How communities, faith groups and businesses collected food and clothing.

We were united, and the outpouring of generosity and compassion reminded us that in times of challenge, we Americans move forward together, as one people.

The White House has issued two sets of guidelines - one for overseas audiences marking the anniversary abroad, and one for Americans.

The New York Times reports that the domestic guidelines outline the themes that ceremonies marking the anniversary should touch on.

Officials are instructed to memorialize those who died in the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and thank those in the military, law enforcement, intelligence or homeland security for their contributions since.

Politico reports that the guidelines - which have been issued to all federal agencies, urge those staging memorial ceremonies to emphasize the "steps have been taken to prevent another Sept. 11-style attack in the U.S."

So Obama wants to talk unity maybe Obama should look that word up. First off I am one of those family members who lost a loved one at ground zero, my brother in law died that day, he was a father and a husband, but more important his daughter who was 1 at that time will never ever know what a wonderful man he was, she only gets to hear stories of him, wow unity, Obama really let me spell that out to ya. You want unity, but yet you are cutting funding to those brave souls the first responders many of whom are sick, you want unity, while hosting a dinner for muslims on their holy day and yet cover the cross with a black sheet as to not offend them when in fact it offends many christians, you want unity, yet you are going to use ground zero as a talking point in your bid for re-election sorry Obama but you clearly have no clue what unity is. While I am at it, like many families who lost loved ones on 9-11 I refuse to go to ground zero to help in your bid for re-election, because in all honesty you are nothing but a talking suit ready to sell us out to the highest bidder, talk is cheap Obama and from where I sit, you are the cheapest of all, try looking up the word unity because clearly you are clueless.

He has no business telling any of us how we are to commemorate 9/11 and, in fact, his words, actions and policies run COMPLETELY AGAINST our country, our military and our first responders. He IS nothing but a cheap talking suit. Good for you! I was going to go to the site on 9/11 to PRAY but Mayor Bloomberg (another cheap suit) decided to make the entire event political in nature by telling FIRST RESPONDERS and CLERGY that they could NOT attend! Well that will certainly scare the crap out of any enemies planning anything. It sounds like an empty threat.
We've never had a president who thought he was the smartest guy in the room and that the others around him are useless and treated them so. Most understood they had things to learn. Not all but most of them.
What Obama doesn't seem to understand is that just because you say something over and over and over it doesn't make it true and you can't force people to believe something when they can see for themselves it's not true. Believe what I say not what you see.
Next thing you know we will all be forced to read from a teleprompter so we don't say anything that goes outside of his guidelines.
I know he's the president but who died and made him God ???

Unfortunately, liberals do believe things if they hear them over & over. But who knows what Obama really thinks. He can't even utter a complete sentance without his teleprompter. I saw him speak while running for president and his teleprompter broke. He had trouble forming words and couldn't string them together to make a complete thought. I was actually embarrassed for him.

We clearly describe Pearl Harbor as an attack by fanatical Japanese on the U.S. ... The Holocaust as the murderous acts of fanatical Nazi Germans ... freedom of speech is half of the issue here. Americans should be allowed to say what they want and memorialize those lost and those that were heros that day freely. His message is to not bash an entire religious group in the process, further straining relations with their hostile factions and the countries they control. I feel his use of the word guidelines here is too strong. He should issue this as suggestions, pointing out these very reasons to avoid such a negative backlash here in the US. It's common sense people, you don't go poke the sleeping bear cause it will wake up hungry and eat you. My mistake there is that i forgot half of the posters here don't have common sense.
