Holland America's Noordam is a popular floating resort. The waters are crowded with sea-worthy vessels, so to make planning easier, we've done all the prep work for a cruise vacation. From "NoordAmerica" To The Mediterranean

The Holland America Noordam sails in the Mediterranean during the warm months, visiting the French Riviera, Greece, Croatia, Turkey and Italy. In October the ship sail across the Atlantic to North America. There, the ship cruises the Caribbean before heading back across the Atlantic in March to resume its Mediterranean cruise schedule.

Old-World And Modern Amenities

A Vista-class cruise ship, the Holland America Noordam is named for the northern point on the compass. Holland America prides itself on providing cruising luxury for every passenger. The ship has modern amenities while retaining the Old World elegance that defines Holland America.

Special Features

Like other luxury cruise lines, Holland America offers youth programs with age-appropriate activities for children from 3 to 17. Adults on the Holland America Noordam can relax in the spa or enjoy a dip in the saltwater hydrotherapy pool. The Noordam's art gallery has pictures from as early as 1842 to the present, with comtemporary photos of jazz greats such as B.B. King.

Accommodations

Staterooms on the Holland America Noordam range from 147-square-foot interior cabins to a 1,318-square-foot penthouse with a veranda. All rooms feature original art. The light-colored wood highlights cream-and-white linens, and draperies with warm accents.

Cost

Because of the wide range of destinations, cruise fares vary dramitically for the Holland America Noordam. A seven-day cruise of the Caribbean may cost as little as $899 per person for an interior cabin and $2,399 per person for a suite. However, a 21-day Caribbean cruise during the winter holiday season can cost as much as $3,049 per person for an inside cabin and $8,999 per person for a suite.

A Holland America Noordam passenger recommended the tour of Carthage in Tunisia. According to the reviewer, the guide was very informative and talked them through the recent changes in the country. The tourists were allowed to take all the pictures they wished, and the local shopkeepers bargained for wares.

Dining Options

The Holland America Noordam's main dining room, Vista, is a two-level dining area. One tier is devoted to "Your Time Dining," which gives passengers seating flexibility. The other level offers two assigned seatings a night. The Lido restaurant offers a casual dining experience, while the Pinnacle Grill serves premium meals in an elegant setting.

Maiden Voyage

The Holland America Noordam made its maiden voyage in February 2006. The ship's "godmother" is actress Marlee Matlin.

In The News

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported an outbreak of a stomach virus on the Holland America Noordam during a January 2009 cruise.
