George W. Bush Weighs In On Dick Cheney's Book (VIDEO)

George W Bush Dick Cheney Book

First Posted: 09/01/11 12:39 PM ET Updated: 11/01/11 06:12 AM ET

Former president George W. Bush weighed in on the release of Dick Cheney's new book during an appearance on Fox and Friends on Thursday morning.

Cheney has harsh words for some former Bush administration officials in his memoir, In My Time. Former Secretaries of State Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice have both taken issue with the former vice president's portrayal of matters related to their respective tenures.

Bush said that it doesn't bother him that some members of his former White House team are disputing accounts Cheney relays in his book.

"I'm glad members of my family are giving their version of what it was like to serve the country," said the former president. Referring to his own memoir, which was released last year, he added, "I did the same thing. I put my version out there."

Bush explained, "Eventually objective historians will analyze our administration and draw objective conclusions."

On the campaign front, the former president weighed in on the race shaping up for the Republican presidential nomination ahead of 2012.

“I’m going to support our party’s nominee," he said. "In the meantime I am going to remain an observer, an interested observer. I also follow baseball."

I think Cheney is rotten to be bad mouthing Bush and others in his administration all for his book and money. No wonder Bush was disliked by so many. Cheney was respected by Bush and even when they wanted Bush to get rid of him, he stood by him. And this is the thanks he gets. George Bush even now is not condeming others. He has more class in him than Cheney will ever have. Cheney has sold himself cheap, and I respect Former President George Bush even more now. Always will.

Of course he weighed in "Luke I am your father"...don't know if that line was for 43 or Karl Rove. Seems really, really relative though.

Cheney kept saying that deficits don't matter. Hey you racist Tea Baggers, where were you when Bush/Cheney/repuglican congress were sending the deficit through the roof?

I had that in mind last night when on the Tonight Show he highlighted the national debt as the most pressing problem. Conveniently ignoring the reasons for it, of course. Cognitive disconnects abound.

Don't think there are many people from the Tea Party on this site - but There seems to be an inordinate number of people who continue to throw the racist grenade in almost every direction.

How can such a lightweight "weigh in?" I guess that explains why his response was such drivel. I still cannot believe that this fool ever became President. What an unmitigated tragedy...

Stupid Bush did successfully thwart your aims during his TWO terms of office and Obama is smart for continuing what boils down to Bush policies derivative of 9/11?

Of course, Obama is responsible for the great victory that allows us to bring our troops home from Iraq, conveniently in advance of the election. How very clever of him to maneuver the Iraqi government into ordering us out of the country, thus allowing him to declare the war over. This seems vaguely reminiscent, if less proactive, than Kissinger's strategy of declaring victory in Vietnam and coming home, pretending that the US did not have its's tail between its' legs.

It got Nixon re-elected during a recession. Maybe it will work for Obama too. But those of us who think of Hillary Clinton as Richard Nixon in drag more credit her for being brainy in following Bush/Cheney's lead than the boss. And so what if Guantanamo is still open, Napolitono has dressed the TSA in brown shirts or the ATF has become the world's largest supplier of small arms to Mexican drug dealers (Or that "stimulus money" loans going to campaign donor "friends of Obama" have a worse repayment record than "liars loans" underwritten by Chris Dodd's lender of choice, Countrywide Mortgage?

After all, Obama is a genius. But have you considered that most Americans think Jimmy Carter was likely the smartest President of the past 60 years - and, until Obama, the worst they could imagine having?

I have spent the last 30 minutes attempting to verify ANYWHERE on the internet that G W B made that remark. The closes I came was an incident relayed by a reporter who supposidly told him (as he shook his hand), "Mr. President, I sure hope you don't get elected to another four more years". GWB then supposedly said "who cares what you think"? There were no other witnesses and it has never been verified.
So basically, unless you can provide evidence, this is just a unverified rumor.

To "weigh in" usually means you have something of substance to say. Bush's comments have no substance, insight, or content. Just more Bush Jabberwocky.

Bush was a thousand times better than obama as President! I really miss him.
OMG what would have happened if bin ladin had attacked on obamas watch?
We would all be muslims, or dead .
Think about it !!!
06:05 PM on 09/02/2011
Think about it!!! There may be nothing he could have done about the attack, but I am 100% certain he wouldn't have lied us into a war in Iraq. He would have kept his eye on the ball and would have gotten Bin Ladin instead of our misadventure in Iraq. So, "Think about it"! How is it we all would be Muslims or dead? That is quiet a statement, one deserving some kind of elaboration on your part.

Bush was a disaster as President. Just terrible. But it's hard for me to hate him like some others do because he seems like a humble guy. He rightfully took a lot of criticism towards the end of his President and he looked so defeated. But he should never have listened to a lot of what he was told from Cheney when it came to energy policy and the neocons when it came to foreign policy. But glad to see he's found a dignified peace in his retirement.

I think Bush was sincere; humble, I don't know. Ultimately, he was clueless.

Fuuny, talk about clueless... Obama is not.?
I would take Jimmy Carter over this clueless piece of _ _ _ _ Play Hangman and guess the letters... Obama couldn't
Obama has never release his so called "Harvard Grades"
At least Bush's grades were higher then Kerry's & Clinton's.
