Mardy Fish Calls Someone 'Dumbass' During U.S. Open Match Against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (VIDEO)

Who Did American Player Insult During U.S. Open Match?

Mardy Fish got a little testy during his fourth-round loss to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga at the U.S. Open on Monday and unleashed some of his frustration during a changeover late in the match.

According to Tom Perrotta of The Wall Street Journal, the highest-seeded American complained to the umpire Carlos Bernades about the people Tsonga's box talking too loudly. The French star had apparently complained earlier in the match that someone near Fisher's box was screaming at him.

Fish reportedly told Bernades, "I don’t speak French, you dumbass."

Ed McGrogan of Tennis.com also confirmed this version of the exchange.

However, Chris Chase of Busted Raquet wrote that the altercation went a little differently. According to Chase, Fish actually insulted Tsonga after the Frenchman asked Fish what was being said in his box.

In the video above, Fish can clearly be heard calling someone a "dumbass" during a conversation about who is distracting him. It sounds as if Tsonga chimes in, regardless of where Fish's comment was directed, by eventually adding "I don't like you, too."

Both players said after the match that there were no issues between them. Fish addressed the incident, saying that they were both "fired up" and admitting that he "shouldn't have said that."
