Like many fashion designers on an early fall afternoon, Adam Lippes is hustling and bustling around his Meatpacking studio. With a Saturday, September 10th runway show looming, Lippes couldn’t be any busier prepping for his Spring 2012 collection, but the multitasking designer has somehow made time to open a new boutique in Nolita this past Tuesday, plan a Fashion’s Night Out party and launch a HSN capsule collection on September 21st. “I’m excited, head-over-heels excited,” says Lippes beaming in his trademark Adam v-neck and Christian Dior jeans. “It may seem crazy, but it’s the right time for us.”

The right time is an understatement considering Lippes’ upcoming, day-to-night Pablo Picasso-meets-Charles Rennie Mackintosh Spring 2012 collection. A mashup of mixed print colors - “polka dots, stripes and florals," colors - “lilacs, pinks and blues” and various shapes “t-shirts, capes and trench coats," the offering is an accomplishment for Lippes, who has stretched his "pretty girl" limits. “My inspiration comes from the everyday,” he says. “The street, the airport, New York! It’s about the girl, who likes to discover and has a full, interesting life. She looks put-together and comfortable, and people can relate to her, much like Coco Chanel.”

That same concept and quality will be played forward to his HSN line except at a more affordable price point - starting at $49 to $300. “We’re doing it all here in-house,” he boasts. “The design, the fitting, it’s not some sort of license where it’s made somewhere else. It’s still our feel, sense and eye.”
