Nuclear Power Art: Dangers Highlighted By Spanish Artists (PHOTOS)

First Posted: 09/07/11 12:23 PM ET   Updated: 11/07/11 05:12 AM ET

From Inhabitat:

Anonymous artist group LuzInterruptus rattled the crowds at Hamburg's Dockville Festival with a haunting installation that reminds us of the dangers of nuclear power. The Spanish collective is known for creating guerilla LED light installations throughout the streets of Madrid that they call "interventions." Their work often features slightly illuminated everyday materials and figures that would otherwise go unnoticed.

Cool, the little lights of radioactive decay causing cancer from nuclear power.

Green energy already cheaper, forever, faster to install, safe and clean. Rooftop pv solar, offshore wind and waste biochar bio fuels will supply all the energy the world needs for a first world living standard.

panels lasting longer and better than predicted http://solar.gwu.edu/Research/EnergyPolicy_Zweibel2010.pdf Great article about price of solar now 3$/W installed. last 100 years, 1-2 cents pwer KWH after the first 20 years and the loan is paid off.

Then see what subsidies you can get, there are lots of them: http://www.dsireusa.org/

I found the images beautiful... If I hadn't seen the headline or the symbols on their backs, I would have seen them more represenative of the light being within each of us.

I like nuke less than solar, but anything other than fossil will help the world now. Global warming has the potential to make the earth uninhabitable for humans. Nukes will only inconvenience us, taking a small piece of land for a couple hundred years.

The high level nuclear wastes from power plants need to be kept safe and monitored for thousands of years, not hundreds. Until sane solutions to dealing with this stuff are found we shouldn't be creating more of it or risking releasing it into the environment.
