Jeff Tweedy Recites 'My Humps' By Black Eyed Peas

First Posted: 09/07/11 04:45 PM ET Updated: 11/07/11 05:12 AM ET

Jeff Tweedy and his band Wilco have a new album coming out soon, but it's a song very different from the indie rocker's traditional ouvre that is creating some major buzz.

The Grammy winner appeared at a book launch party for author Dan Sinker's "The F***ing Epic Twitter Quest of Mayor Emanuel," took the stage, and recited a very haunted, confused version of the Black Eyed Peas' hit, "My Humps."

Rahm Emanuel himself was in attendance, but no word yet on whether he was a fan of the reconfigured groove.

Good. The Black-Eyed Peas needed a good smack upside the head.

I am shocked Tweedy bird could get his head to fit in that place. Talk about ego and hype... He was good with Jay and Co. back in the day... everything since ten has been moody brooding crap.

Hilarious, the black eyed peas sure write good lyrics. (Sarcasm)

On the other hand Jeff Tweedy writes amazing lyrics. I have listened to the Ghost is Born a million times, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is a modern classic. Looking forward to their new album

The fact that the audience doesn't seem to get it kinda ruined it for me!

If Jeff Tweedy was Cool he would have made the song sound good like Tom Jones singing "Kiss" by Prince or Tony Bennett singing "For Once In My Life" by Stevie Wonder. Jeff Teedy is not cool thats why he sings country music.

Your post shows how little you know about his music. But carry on with not being very cool yourself

I just listen to some of Jeff Tweedy on You Tube.I thought his singing "My Humps" by The Black Eyed Peas " was a joke but this is how he really sings. He just plain sucks. I thought the idea of singing was to get girls. He just plain sucks. Jeff Tweedy says Bon Jovi ruined music what a joke.

Jeff Tweedy is a Pat Boone wanna be. Only Pat Boone can at least sing.

If Jeff was cool like Tom Jones singing Princes song "Kiss" it would sound cool. But Jeff Tweedy is not Cool that's why he sings Country music....Tweedy....LOLOLOL.

Seriously, get a life. Someone in your life apparently told you you are funny or witty. They lied to you, hon.

Or Pat Boone singing "Enter Sandman by Metalica or Pat Boone singing Ozzies "Crazy Train" It's not the first time Mr. Charley F**ked up a song

This reminds me of how Pat Boone sang Tutti Frutti. It just doesn't come out right.

Dear Jasmine D - One request, the next time you capture ANYTHING that's suppose to be funny, could you PLEASE try not to laugh directly into the device your holding. Try turning your head away but still holding the whatever it is your holding. You ruined the whole thing for me with your laugh and to me, IMO, it's very annoying to watch something with constant interruptions, like an annoying laugh. Then at about 4:00 you really belt it out at which point I had to stop the video. With all that said, and with the distractions, I can't comment on what I'm supposed to be commenting on. Jus’ sayin’ - No hurt feelings, ok.

What a brilliant way to show the absolute absurdity and stupidity of the lyrics to this piece of drivel. I still can't believe this song got the airplay that it did.
12:16 AM on 09/08/2011
Exactly. Just from hearing those songs in passing, I knew they were stupid, but having the lyrics slowly read brought it all home.
