Kate Winslet Channels Elizabeth Taylor On V's September Cover (PHOTO)

Dressing up as Elizabeth Taylor, it seems, is the fashion trend du jour.

Aymeline Vadale, Lara Stone and Kate Winslet all darkened their eyebrows and threw on some jewels to channel to iconic actress for V magazine's "Heroes"-themed September issue, which hits newsstands today.

On the cover, shot by Mario Testino and styled by Carine Roitfeld, Winslet embodies the deceased actress whom she calls her own hero.

Kate talked about Taylor to the magazine :

"There was a real fearlessness in her... Back then, there didn't seem to be a rule book, and there was some expectation in terms of how glamourous a woman should look. There is sort of a coolness and aloofness to the way [Elizabeth Taylor] would look in posed photographs. In candid snapshots she was really quite soft, and she would really screw up her face. I do that as well."

Kate's face looks none too screwed-up to us, as she peers through a string of pearls. Kate's always been comfortable in her skin, hitting the red carpet's in stylish but not overly-trendy pieces -- and hitting the big screen in a lot less.

The 35-year-old actress told V about her frequent nude scenes:

"I hate it! Listen make no mistake, I just get on it. I just go in and say 'Oh f*ck' let's do it.' and Boom. If you complain about it or procrastinate it's not going to go away. Its a profoundly bizarre thing to do. As actors you talk about it all the time. You can literally be tangled in sheets, and you turn to the other actor and say 'What the f*ck are we doing?' Dear Mum, at work today I had so-and-so's left nut sack pressed against my cheek. It's sort of unethical if you think about it in those terms."

Well said, Ms. Winslet -- who knew we'd ever be hearing the phrase "left nut sack" from you? Then again, the actress as always been quite outspoken, particularly on the topic of body image. Last month she made headlines for founding the informal "British Anti-Cosmetic Surgery League" with pals Rachel Weisz and Emma Thompson, vowing to stay away from plastic surgery and not succumb to industry pressures.

"I am an actress," Winslet told the Telegraph, "I don't want to freeze the expression of my face."

Her expressions are certainly not frozen in this month's V. Winslet's stunning Taylor-inspired pictures can be found on Vmagazine.com -- check out the cover and a few preview shots below.

She's such an amazing actress. Please, do yourselves a favor and see something other than Titanic. One of my favorite roles of hers is Sense & Sensibility. She's also a very beautiful woman. So much more talented and beautiful than other actresses that get more coverage than her.

Have any of these folks commenting seen any movies with Kate in them besides Titanic?!
She's one of the best actresses of our generation. Go rent some DVD's and come back. Eeeeesh.

Sorry, that's Kate Winslet channeling Brooke Shields channeling Madonna channeling a drag queen channeling Liz Taylor. There was only one Liz, not someone four degrees of separation away from the original.

I'm a fan of both actresses but I see absolutely no resemblance whatsoever in this photo shoot.

She is "no Elizabeth Taylor." I met Miss Taylor a number of years ago when she was married to the Senator. I talked briefly with her and looked into those marvelous violet eyes. My daughter
shook hands with her and said: "Miss Taylor, your are so beautiful." (She was very young at the time.) And "Miss Taylor" said to my daughter -- "And so are YOU." On thing I noticed was her jewelry, but she did not have beautiful hands!

I posted a comment saying this at 2 pm EST. This magazine cover looks similar to Elizabeth Taylor's photo on My Love Affair with Jewelry. I wonder if that is what inspired Kate's photo? http://www.amazon.com/Elizabeth-Taylor-Love-Affair-Jewelry/dp/B000C4SO5C/ref=tmm_pap_title_0?ie=UTF8&qid=1315507634&sr=8-1

What a mockery-NOT even close!!

I always found Taylor's features too perfect and too balanced to be really interesting. It's a personal and subjective opinion, of course, but, to me, the British actress Jean Simmons was infinitely more interesting to watch and, therefore, more beautiful.

Kate is a real woman with true beauty like Liz was, so I think she is doing her justice in these photos...especially the two on the right. The look can't be pulled off by any random face; Kate looks stunning!
