Do not make pay raised dependent on test results. If you do people will cheat.

How about we don't make one poorly concocted two hour test the total measure of a teacher's/administrator's/student's worth? Maybe then, if the stakes for this 'snapshot in time' weren't so darn important to children's lives and people's careers, we wouldn't have to be so concerned about cheating.

We've been doing all of those recommendations in California for years. I am shocked that it has taken until now to get this done. Of course, that still doesn't stop someone who is bound and determined to cheat. The tests are such a joke anyway but if they are going to give them, they could start by not having teachers test their own students. It would also help if administrators didn't collect and store tests when they have been threatened with their jobs if the scores don't go up.
