Kandice Child Arrested: Student Caught With Weed Bites Principal As Mother Runs Off With Stash

Student Caught With Weed Bites Principal As Mother Grabs With Stash

Sometimes it's best not to have mom come to the rescue.

Police arrested Kandice J. Child on Wednesday after she allegedly attempted to run away with the three-and-a-half bags of marijuana that a high school principal found in her son's backback, the Lewiston Sun Journal reported.

Around 12:30 p.m., Dirigo High School Principal Michael Poulin called Child, as well as Dixfield police Chief Richard A. Pickett, to his office to address the boy's marijuana stash. According to police, the 15-year-old became belligerent when his mother arrived and investigators began searching his bag.

The Lewiston Sun Journal said that, "The boy tried to take the backpack from [Principal] Poulin, pushing him backward and causing them both to fall to the floor ... As Pickett pulled the student off Poulin and handcuffed him, the boy bit Poulin's right wrist, drawing blood."

Following the tussle, Child grabbed the backpack and made a run for it, only to return later, less two bags of marijuana, the Weekly Vice reported.

The situation forced school administrators to place the entire school on lockdown, with all students and teachers secure in classrooms.
