The World's Most Expensive Car Model Starting At Only $4.7 Million

Lamborghini Car Model
Stephan Winkelmann CEO and President of Lamborghini presents the new model Aventador LP700-4 during a presentation of Volkswagen prior to the 81st International Motor show in Geneva on Feb 28, 2011

Why spend over a quarter of a million dollars on a Lamborghini when you can have a miniature model for 12 times the price? That's the thinking behind a new model car that will appear at the Frankfurt Auto Show at the end of September.

Hailed the world's most expensive and precious car model by Guinness World Records, the creation is based on the Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 and is decked out in gold, platinum and diamonds, reports Business Insider.

Jokes aside, this might actually be worth investing in. Cars are known to devalue the second they leave the lot, but if the bejeweled car's materials alone are worth a total of $2.7 million, this is one car that will go up in value after purchase.

Sotheby's will auction the car in December in either New York or Dubai with bids starting at $4.7 million, reports Wired. Or you might want to purchase it at the show, but that will cost you an an extra $1.3 million.

Why are the car models mutch more expensive than the real one? I can't understand this. Its also not the most expensive car
01:54 AM on 10/04/2011
The body of the car is made from carbon, just like the original, and features around €2 million-worth of precious metals and stones. Metal was used for the detailed rims and diamonds were inserted into the seats, steering wheel and headlights.

Shows how many people read the article before running of with their mouths. The model car is selling for 4.7 million, not the car itself.

It's obvious that the term "Car Model" was way too subtle for those who didn't bother reading past the headline.

How many starving people can once car feed?

None. Model cars taste horrible and have no nutritional value. I tried eating a Hot Wheels Porsche once. Ugh!

If you need this to get laid,
you should think of investing in a fistful of pardons for a womens correctional facility.
They got to be cheaper than this car.

I owned one of these before they were popular and cost millions of dollars. They're so lame now. Now I have an old Volvo station wagon. Way more useful. Just sayin'.
08:51 PM on 09/14/2011
Is it a model Volvo?

I'm favoriting your comments before it becomes mainstream.

Tell me when the Aventador comes out in a hybrid model, for the mileage is the one downside that can't be overlooked.
And before you mock me on the subject, the Porsche 918 Spyder is a hybrid.

I'm very much interested in this car. After financing, how much will it cost me?

1. it's not a car, it's a miniature model
2. It's likely to appreciate, NOT depreciate

Did you actually bother reading the article?
09:00 AM on 09/14/2011
Ah. Who would by a sports car from a tractor company?

The only difference is this car could end you up in jail much faster for going past the speed limit. :p

Considering that this article's about a non-running miniature model, that doesn't speak very highly of your Civic!

I would rather have the real thing, only in the Audi R8 version. Than again if I could afford something truely cool, I would want this,

We have to car shop this weekend with our daughter...I wonder if she'll qualify for the 60 month loan on this car and if there's a promotional interest rate available....it'll be a bit different than her 10 year old PT cruiser. She lives less than two miles from her job...She shouldn't have to fill up more than once or twice a week with this green machine.
