A skeptical Bill O'Reilly sparred with Mitt Romney on Tuesday night.
O'Reilly hosted Romney on his show the day after the GOP debate in Florida. He began by asking the former Massachusetts governor about a series of reports that all alleged bad blood between him and his main rival in the race, Rick Perry. Romney essentially dismissed them all, though he allowed that politics causes tension between people.
O'Reilly then turned to President Obama. "Do you think Barack Obama is the worst president in American history?" he asked. Romney said he was "not enough of a historian" to answer, but that Obama had certainly been a bad one. Interestingly, he said that Obama's foreign policy has been an even bigger problem than his domestic policy.
"The outrage felt across the country for his failure is well-known," he said. O'Reilly fairly scoffed at this.
"I don't understand what failure you're talking about," he said, listing off a series of things Obama had done (killing bin Laden, increasing the use of drones, keeping Bush-era detention, rendition and surveillance policies in place) that should make Romney happy.
"What disasters overseas are you referring to?" O'Reilly asked. Romney said the biggest failure had been on Iran, and on Obama's failure to get an agreement with Russia for tougher sanctions. O'Reilly dismissed this as unrealistic.
"Putin's not going to do that," he said. "Bush couldn't get anything out of Putin."
