Weather Anchor Heidi Jones Admits She Lied About Attack

The New York City meteorologist accused of lying to police about being assaulted has admitted she faked her story.

Heidi Jones, the 38-year-old WABC-TV weather anchor and occasional forecaster on "Good Morning America," pleaded guilty today to misdemeanor false-reporting charges, according to the Manhattan District Attorney's Office.

Jones went to police on Dec. 1, 2010, and told them that a Hispanic man attacked her while she was jogging.

"I was attacked in Central Park on Sept. 24, 2010, at approximately 1 p.m. and I was also attacked on Nov. 21, 2010, outside of my home at approximately 7:30 a.m.," Jones said, according to court documents.

But Jones' story had inconsistencies, and she later admitted making the whole thing up, police said.

"I did make this up. I made it up for attention," Jones told police on Dec. 13, 2010, according to the criminal complaint. "I have so much stress at work, with my personal life and with my family. I know there is no justification for it."

Jones will serve three years' probation, attend psychiatric counseling and perform 350 hours of community service, prosecutors said.

Jones will be formally sentenced on Oct. 26.

How can anybody say she should not serve time in jail So many women do this in many different ways and ruin men's lives forever. This is why they should be prosecuted and jailed so that they will think twice before doing it in the first place. Only a mind in denial would think any differently. Or a radical feminist.

And the majority are always telling the minority stop being so sensitive. I'm sure Hispanic men in New York are breathing a sigh of relief because they know that if they didn't find the guy someone was going to pay for attacking "Mrs. Barbie."

An uncle of my wife drove a church bus. He was retired. A teeny bopper girl acvcused him of misconduct. Though she later admitted that she lied, the damage was done. He lived under a shadow, until he committed suicide. She also just wanted attention.

Way back in the day before halloween became a thing for children to fear, a man down the street from us was arrested for putting razor blades in apples. Turned out the girls were lying, and mad at him because he had yelled at them the week before. He lost his job, and even after everything was cleared people still treated him poorly. Today whenever I hear the warnings about 'check the candy' I think of him and wonder how things turned out for him. Don't know why I wanted to share that...your situation with your uncle is much worse....

Falsely crying rape is a sex offense, and should be dealt with accordingly. Including placement on those sex-offender lists that follow you around. It is every bit as damaging as any other, and it's time to recognize this.

I'm not surprised! People lie for no reason at all, just for the sake of it. It's dangerous. It reminded me an incident in 1997. I was at the Army PX in Germany. This woman was starring at one of my soldiers. Suddenly, my soldier started covering his face. I thought it was odd. I asked him why he was covering her face. He said, "Sir, I'm from Mississippi." I said, why does that matter? He said, "Sir, these people lie just to get attention. I don't want my face to be described to the police as a rapist, because someone wants to get attention at my expense." I thought that was the craziest thing I have heard in my life. But, I have come to understand what he was talking about. It's scary! I wonder how many Hispanic men were harassed because of her lies. She should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, unless she confesses to her mental illness.

I think she should have pay restitution for her false claims and spend time working at a shelter where victims of violent crimes (both men and women) go because they have nowhere else to go. Perhaps that will teach her to cry, "Wolf."
