Elle Macpherson Shares Her Easy Beauty Tips

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 09/15/2011 8:14 am Updated: 01/21/2012 3:45 pm

Supermodels love to go on and on about how easy it is to look like them. Just drinks five gallons of water a day! Just meditate every morning! Simply add four tablespoons of coconut oil to your diet!

Elle Macpherson gave Elle UK a similar array of "easy" explanations for how she stays so darn gorgeous and slender as a 48-year-old model (who's also a mother of two young kids). And she makes it sound so infuriatingly simple.

A sampler:

I eat organic, locally sourced food wherever possible. I don’t like to have chemicals in my body at all, so I don’t drink, smoke or take drugs, not even Aspirin.
The most important thing for me is scrub. I have a scrubbing mitt and I buff my whole body and face everyday twice a day, in the shower in the morning and bath at night. And then moisturise; the texture of skin is really important.
... If you don’t drink lots of water there’s no point. I challenge any woman to drink 3 litres water everyday for a month and sleep for seven hours a night, that she won’t lose weight, look better and feel better.

Sounds easy enough to us! Just eat right all the time, never drink, smoke or take painkillers, spend half of your day scrubbing your body and the other half either sleeping or exercising. Just do all these things, and you too can wear PVC pants in your forties.

At least the Australian model didn't suggest taking those rhino power pills. Those sounded dangerous.

She left out good genetics, sun avoidance and some other stuff. I do like the no smoking part. :)

I'm certain you're lovely as is. I just eat organic because it makes what I do have look healthy, and I feel better than I ever did in my younger years. The comments I get now and again, are an unexpected bonus. Cheers.

I have a "real job" and eat mostly organic. It's cheaper than all of the pre-packaged foods that are on the shelves. I don't smoke - another costly habit - or drink alcohol. I drink tea sometimes but otherwise drink water. I don't take drugs for anything, either. I'll admit I don't look like Ms Mcpehrson, but I do get quite a few comments about my skin, and how young I look for my age. I'm 48 and often get mistaken for 10 years younger. I'm not gorgeous by any standards, so I definitely enjoy the compliments when they come my way. Hey, eating healthy works.

Here is guessing she is independently wealthy enough to eat organic, doesn't have regular work hours, never takes a drug like caffeine. I can't drink gallons of water in an office job, I'd be in the toilet more than the cubicle. Get advice from real people with real jobs.

Headline here is a little misleading. It is not beauty tips to look just like her, but her advice as to how to look better.

There is a difference between "your" and "you're".

I don't like the twinge of sarcasm and jealousy at the end of the article. "Just spend half your day scrubbing your body... etc" I don't recall her saying to spend half your day scrubbing. It's not a big deal, a lot of people do it. Putting some effort into looking good wouldn't hurt this grossly overweight and sloppy country.
Haters gonna hate.

Oh geez Rachelvis...can we just stop with the hater stuff already? That word is beyond tired, even with 7 hours of sleep.

Does your dislike for the word "hater" make my point invalid? This article reeks of jealousy.

Then you must have only one job because I have 2 and have to clean/maintain a house, take care of 2 dogs and don't have maid service to run all my errands. It's ridiculous that someone is giving beauty advice to people who don't have their whole life off and make their own hours to work.

Use common sense and make the "advice" adapt to your life. It's like any advice that you get, no one's life is identical to anothers. You use your brain to make it work for you.

I do. (I'm 24) Australian supermodel from the early nineties, also known as "The Body". That is a trademark, by the way- just ask Heidi Klum.
