FIle this under: perfect casting. We can't think of anyone better to fill the shoes of blues legend Fillmore Slim than rapper -- and big pimping extraordinaire -- Snoop Dogg.

Snoop Dogg is set to star in the biopic "The Legend of Fillmore Slim," reports Deadline. It was announced today by Ames Universal and SRI Entertainment.

Fillmore Slim -- real name is Clarence Sims -- is a blues singer and guitarist. And while you my be wondering why Snoop Dogg, of all people, is perfect for the role, let us tell you that Slim was known for more than just his music. During the 1960s and 70s, he was also a highly renowned pimp in San Francisco, often referred to as "The West Coast Godfather of the Game" and "The Pope of Pimping."

See,we told you this was perfect casting.

“This film will span decades,” co-producer and co-writer Alan Ames told Deadline, “from Slim’s emergence as a musician, to his fascination with the fast life, through his years of incarceration and his redemption.”

The film, co-written by newcomer Carole Parker, is set to start production in December, and with Slim, now 77-years-old, currently touring, we're sure "The Pope of Pimping" has a few tricks of the trade to teach Snoop.
