Steve Harvey Expands His Mentoring Weekend To New York City

As previously reported, Steve Harvey's wife, Marjorie, is gearing up for her second annual Girls Who Rule The World Mentoring Weekend on Oct. 28-30 in Atlanta, Ga. In addition to her annual event, today it was announced that Steve Harvey and his Foundation will bring their highly successful initiative for young men to New York City's Jacob Javits Center on Oct. 7-9.

Similar to the best-selling author's previous mentoring efforts in Dallas, New Orleans, and Los Angeles, Harvey's two day New York City event will feature various workshops and panels offering the principles of manhood and dream building through a suit fitting session, chess challenge, and a town hall meeting which will educate the 100 participants on staying fit and maintaining a healthy diet.

"All the young men who are attending this camp come from homes without fathers," he explained in a press release. If we can reach them and provide them with options to achieve, then this weekend will be a success not just for them, but for future generations."

Potential candidates will be selected via personal essay (minimum of 300 words) submissions from young men, ages 13 to 18 and must come from a single female-headed household in the New York, New Jersey or Connecticut metropolitan area. Each applicant must include why they wish to partake in the mentoring program, and submit their applications by 5:00 pm EST on September 19, 2011 through Steve Harvey's official website.
