'Gossip Girl' Clothing Line In The Works

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 09/16/2011 8:29 am Updated: 11/16/2011 4:12 am

We suppose it was inevitable, but we're still pretty excited by the news today: "Gossip Girl" is becoming a clothing line.

Women's Wear Daily reports that Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Warner Bros. Television Group, the producers of the TV show, are partnering up with Romeo & Juliet Couture to create a Blair and Serena-inspired line.

Although Anna Sui already channeled all four of "GG"'s female leads with her Target collaboration in 2009, WWD writes that it's the first time "Gossip Girl" has officially branded itself as a fashion line on such a large scale.

The collection, which will debut by the show's season five premiere on September 26, will be sold at upscale retailers like Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue with prices ranging from $80 to $200.

The best part of the news, of course, is that the clothes are inspired by Leighton Meester and Blake Lively's characters and not Taylor Momsen's.

Little J's clothes were getting a little scary there towards the end and we all know what Momsen looks like these days. Those clothes (and, God forbid, a makeup line) would be none too appealing.

I love the styling on this show. The costumers have a great eye and choose really interesting pieces for the cast. I look forward to seeing some of the designs based on the characters of Blair and Serena. They have some pretty edgy but elegant (almost foppish) designs for the guys, too.

I'm guessing that none of the commenters have watched the show. This is a fabulous idea. They wear some kickass pieces and all of the characters have their own identity which equals great items for all types of women.

You may not like the show but it is a great example of fun and fashion.

My cheap butt just wishes that they'd partnered with Target so I know that I could but it. Haha

It's pretty revolting when grown women attempt to imitate pre-schoolers.

Gossip Girl, that Shakespearean television show is getting its own fashion collection. Now we will have to live through the painful process of extensive cross-marketing between retailers and a list of television shows-turned-fashion designers. I cannot wait to see what Fox, CBS, NBC, ABC and Bravo have in store for us. http://bit.ly/rdTxf9

Sorry, this show is for airheads.
Made in China clothing for yet another Wal mart brand? Why?

Please. Why not just paint them in brightly colored latex body paint, market buckets of the stuff, and call it the new must-have clothing- one size fits all. The fashion zombies would go nuts.
