Louis C.K. Defends Jacqueline Kennedy On 'Real Time With Bill Maher' (VIDEO)

WATCH: Louis C.K. Defends Jackie Kennedy

With the release of Jacqueline Kennedy's controversial interviews where she exposed a more candid side of herself that most had never seen, she saw an unlikely defender in Louis C.K. on Friday's episode of "Real Time with Bill Maher."

Maher took issue with one excerpt of Kennedy's interview, in which she said:

I remember I said it in an interview once, and all these women — we got all these irate letters — someone said, "Where do you get your opinions?" And I said, "I get all my opinions from my husband." Which is true. How could I have any political opinions, you know? His were going to be the best. And I could never conceive of not voting for whoever my husband was for.

While Maher found plenty of her other more surprising quotes (such as that she thought Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a "phony") to be amusing, he found this particular quote more embarrassing and telling of her personality.

"Maybe she just wasn't that bright," Maher postulated.

Maher's guests, Keith Olbermann and Jennifer Donahue of the Eisenhower Institute, spoke in the defense of the former First Lady, who died in 1994. But Louis C.K., who stopped by "Real Time" to promote his FX show "Louie," had the most sympathetic view of the quote.

Watch the clip below to find out why he feels she may have be quoted out of context, including a reenactment of how C.K. believes she meant it.
