New York Fashion Week has finally come to a close and designers offered a truly lighthearted, smart and sophisticated spin on Spring 2012. With sport-inspired accents taking center stage, trends on the runway were a mix of casual cool and buttoned-up chic. Looks were laced with touches of neon, metallics and color-blocking that had perfectly paired accessories to match.
While models like Lindsey Wixson and Edie Campbell rocked sunglasses and hats down most of the runways, this season, the clutch definitely reigned supreme. The bag appeared in every shape and shade, from boxy squares to oversize envelopes and acid-tones to painterly prints. Waists were cinched by bold belts and even the old-school backpack got some love from designers like Diane Von Furstenberg and Alexander Wang.
