British Man Vincent Cooke Arrested For Allegedly Stabbing Burglar To Death

Burglar

A suspected burglar has been stabbed to death after he allegedly intruded on a home in a wealthy British neighborhood.

39-year-old Vincent Cooke reportedly was relaxing at home in Stockport when Raymond Jacob and another man tried to forcibly enter through the front door. Cooke then stabbed Raymond Jacob using Jacob's own knife. According to The Telegraph, Jacob was injured with knife wounds when officers arrived on the scene. “The officers rendered first aid and paramedics attended, however, the man died a short time later," said Chief Supt Tim Forber.

Police suspect burglary was the motive for the break-in. The Daily Mail reports: "[Vincent Cooke] and his wife drive luxury cars, a gold Maserati and a silver Range Rover both with personalised registration plates, and detectives will be investigating whether they were targeted by the raiders for their wealth."

According to the BBC, UK law holds that homeowners should not be prosecuted if they use "reasonable force" to protect themselves against intruders. Justice Secretary Ken Clarke explained: "If an old lady finds she's got an 18 year old burgling her house and she picks up a kitchen knife and sticks it in him she has not committed a criminal offence and we will make that clear."

The police arrested Vincent Cooke, however The Daily Mail reports that he has been released on bail until mid-October.

Metro notes that this is the third such incident in recent months. In both previous cases, the homeowners were released without being charged.

British law enforcement is insane. The detectives who made this arrest have no idea how to do their jobs; it has not been proven that a criminal act occurred, so why arrest the guy for murder? Send the detective back to street patrol for some re-training.

LOSE
LOOSE is what you call your pants if they're too big.
Forgive me. It's just that everyone seems to make this mistake. I'm not sure why.

It's not a question of being wimpy, it's more civilised, and we don't need to carry guns to bolster our masculinity.

Locking up people for killing a thug in their own home with the thug's own weapon is "more civilized"?

Spare me your "civilization".

I guess you got it all wrong.......not a matter of gain masculinity by carrying a gun, is just the right to defend yourself....remember, the bad guys will always carry a gun and the Police will not be there for you when you need, ONLY after. I guess it is a matter of different societies and point of views .....if was not by U.S. rescue your country in the second war, you would be speaking German today.

It is amazing how perverted the law can be in some areas. I lived in Iowa and saw a very wealthy farmer become very poor because he set a trap for a burgler. A loaded double barrel shotgun aimed at the door. The man had been warned before because he was a repeat theif. He tried to enter the farmers barn and lost both legs. He did however sue and gained 5 farms the wealthy farmer owned. I for one believe he should have not aimed at the knees and aimed about head high.

Laws can be abused and this is one of them. Too bad he didnt tell the cops the gun was leaning next to the door and when the burglar entered it must of fell over and went off.

I remember something like that happening a while back , i think it was in New York. A guys apartment was broken into several times. He reported it to the police, but it didnt stop the burglar. He got fed up and hooked up an electric cord to the door knob. The guy came to break in again and it electrocuted him.The guy who owned the apartment went to jail for murder.

You take your chances when you enter someone's home to rob them, you might not come out alive. You can't fault the home owner for protecting his domain, no telling what could have happened to him and his wife. He did right.

Correct...if that's what happened. I think that's all the cops are doing, confirming the story. It would be improper police work to just solely accept the word of the one who happens to be surviving after a stabbing.

I agree that all aspects of this situation has to be investigated, but in the end, if this person was using such force to break in, the homeowner had no choice but to protect his domicile. If I had a husband, I would expect no less from him. Everyone has the God given right to defend themselves, their loved ones and their property. If someones invades your home you have no idea what will and can happen, will he rape his wife or his children? Will he shoot them all and leave them for dead? Do you wait and see what will happen or will the man of the house, or anybody for that matter, defend against a clear and present danger and put a stop to it before it escalates? Better to be judged by twelve than carried by six!

Leave the homeowner alone, he was defending himself and his property. Finish off the other guy.

All my bedrooms can be locked from the inside therefore we sleep with our doors close and secured. It would give us enough time to call 911 and urge them to pick up the body as soon as possible. Have you ever seen a person shot with a shot gun...WOW !!

So, the thief finally met up with Karma.. Morgues and cemeteries are full of foolish people.
If someone makes the mistake of coming into my home uninvited, chances are very good they will be leaving with some complimentary lead. I consider the fact that they are in my home to begin with, a very real threat.

I came home to find my house broken into two days before christmas, I remember that feeling of violation and I imagine that of one who was raped. that violated feeling didnt go away for a long time all the christmas packages were torn open the merchandise they intended to steal was laying on my bed wrapped in the bedding. it was obvious I had interupted the burglary. Had I not been carring a weapon ( pistol) i could have easily been an uninteded victim. People who think they can take your stuff, are not as bad as, the people who think they can prosecute you for protecting your stuff. To the prosecutors who go after the Owners, yeah its only property BUT IT's MY property and I want to keep it. So stand with US or get out of the way.
