'Dancing With The Stars' Premiere: Chaz Bono Does The Cha-Cha (VIDEO)

Despite all of the recent controversy for being the first transgender contestant, Chaz Bono made quite a memorable "Dancing With the Stars" debut during Monday night's season 13 premiere (Sept. 19).

Even though, in regards to technicality, Chaz still needs to work on his moves, he had what a lot of the contestants lacked on the dance floor -- personality. Not only did it look like Chaz was having the time of his life doing the cha-cha with partner Lacey Schwimmer, but he also seemed confident, even amidst all of the controversy.

As for the judges? They loved Chaz's cha-cha. Even the hard-to-please Len had to congratulate Chaz on his first effort: "You really came out with the right attitude. You came out to enjoy yourself, and that's what I felt you did. You're so joyous out here. Great debut, Chaz. You should be proud."

HOORAH for dear Chaz! I was expecting his ability and musicality as the son of Sonny and Cher.
And Lindsay loves him... what a great performance!
Can hardly wait to see him again as he improves...

He/She has a right to dance the night away...but still does not change the fact that it's a girl and always will be...This is my favorite show and it seems more like Dancing With the Gays show starring Chaz/Chastity Bono featuring flaming blazing Carson Pressley........The show is becoming a joke. Its authenticity is fading. The dance numbers and the music is just a mess....and it doesn't help with all the controversy surrounding it....GeeeeWizzzz I want my show back.

Chaz did well and he should be applauded for having the courage to do DWTS. Many people should educate themselves about Transsexuality before making IGNORANT comments. DNA and genitalia are not the only factors that determine a person’s gender. Transsexuality is caused by a Prenatal Hormone Imbalance. Embryonic male and female babies are both initially PHYSICALLY female (with DNA consisting of either XX or XY chromosomes). Between 6-8 weeks, if the fetus is a male (XY chromosome), it receives a massive dosage of testosterone that transforms the body into its male pattern (the clitoris elongates into a penis, the ovaries descend to form testicles, etc...). However, if there is not enough testosterone, then while the genitals may change the brain does not, and instead retains its original female template. Likewise, a female fetus may be accidentally exposed to male hormones as well, causing the brain to develop into the male pattern, rather than the female.

This causes the person to develop a brain that is the same template or pattern as that of the opposite sex. It is a medical condition., and NOT a psychological, moral, or religious issue or condition. It has a cure, SRS (Sex Reassignment Surgery, which has been done for approximately 70 years) and no amount of therapy, or willpower, or faith, or hope, will ever change the individual's brain structures.

Bigotry often exists because of IGNORANCE, and many people prove it with their ignorant comments on this issue.

The Tea Party stands for one issue: lower taxes. Assigning any other designation or motivation to the party based on the actions of a handful of members at rallies is dishonest.
