James Franco On 'General Hospital': Pets His Monkey (VIDEO)

Gigantic, hyper-intelligent apes aren't James Franco's only simian co-stars.

The eclectic actor/writer/director/artist/etc, who was last seen in the uber-successful "Rise of the Planet of the Apes," has made his return to soap opera "General Hospital," reviving his serial killer/artist character Franco to wildly creepy effect. Standing over a dead body, he muses over the wedding of his desperate crush, hitman Jason Morgan, and plots his return to Port Charles to break up the nuptials.

As for his next, more serious project, Franco will be directing an adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's novel, "Blood Meridian."

The fact that it's terribly written makes it better. It's cheesy, and cheesy is great. And soap operas cannot help but to be cheesy. It's when they take themselves too seriously that they stop being fun to watch. And the way soap operas are dropping off like characters in a slasher flick, maybe they need to take a cue from General Hospital

Agreed. Additional pull-down menu tabs for Entertainment should be: Rihanna, Beyonce, GaGa, Gwyneth and Jennifer (Aniston and Lopez). Kardashian needs her own section outside of Entertainment since she's not an entertainer. How 'bout Publicity W H O R E ?

James Franco is a fun actor to watch. And every actor who works as much as James will not be able to pick great movies to act in everytime. Also I can't believe that the person who wrote this article complains that a soap opera was terriblely written.....Duh:)

well. i, for one, went to see the apes movie. i thought it was pretty good, despite the franco hoopla. coulda been anyone in that part. anyone at all. what was especially good to see, and what i went to see, were the cg apes. i, for one, was getting tired of rick baker in that monkey suit. don't know 'bout you. this one almost, almost made up for that remake with wahlberg.

the humans were plot fodder. boy! falco finally got a pummelling. didn't he?
