Pulqueria: Inside Chinatown's Secret Mexican Restaurant And Bar (VIDEO)

09/20/2011 05:57 pm ET | Updated Nov 20, 2011

We haven't yet had the chance to walk into the signless, "blink and you miss it" entrance of Chinatown's Pulqueria (the line outside looked pretty long during Fashion Week) which is why we're happy today to have Laura Cooper Brown of the Bowery Hotel take us on a tour in this new video from GloboMaestro.

It's the first time the Pulqueria owners (the same people behind Apotheke sans cocktail pyro Albert Trummer) have allowed someone to film inside the Mexican restaurant and bar on Doyers Street since it opened to the public in June. (Correction: Pulqueria is not yet technically open to the public, but it will be soon.)

Watch below as Laura enjoys an "Inebriated Monkey" (made from the delectable, ancient Mexican elixir pulque) and tastes chef Nacxitl Gaxiola’s take on Mexican street food, including a Mayan pumpkin seed dip and some red snapper tacos.
