'1911' Trailer Released: Jackie Chan Portrays Chinese Historical Drama

Posted: Updated:

To most, Jackie Chan is eternally flying through the air, wielding a stool and chopping someone in the face.

But in the upcoming historical war drama, "1911," Chan has traded in his black belt for full regalia, hand guns (and, in certain scenes, a sharp leather jacket).

Directed by Chan and Li Zing, the film imagines a war-torn China in the midsts of their bloody revolution, leading up to the overthrow of the Qing Dynasty.

Starring alongside Chinese actress Bingbing Li, Chan shows off a greater range than we've seen before. (He even sheds a tear!)

"1911" hits theaters October 12.
