Ted Haggard, Gary Busey On 'Celebrity Wife Swap'

Haggard Busey

Welcome to reality TV at its finest.

According to ColoradoSprings.com, Ted Haggard, the pastor and former president of the National Association of Evangelicals who was ousted after admitting to doing drugs and having a relationship with a male prostitute, will be trading spouses with actor Gary Busey on an upcoming episode of "Celebrity Wife Swap."

Haggard and Busey, who is a born again Christian, will trade wives and have cameras follow them around as the women try to reshape the other man's home and family life.

The episode will film Thursday at the GLBT Pride Center in Colorado Springs.

The former pastor of the New Life megachurch, Haggard saw his life crumble after he was caught in the affair. Now willing to admit he may be a bisexual, he runs the non-denominational St. James church and makes assorted media appearances trading on his scandal.

Haggard and his wife Gayle appeared on a 2009 episode of "Divorce Court," and featured in a TLC documentary about his fall and rise, called "Ted Haggard: Scandalous." He also had a documentary on HBO, and has appeared on countless talk shows, including "Oprah."

He also recently made a cameo in a Christian sex comedy movie.

Busey is no stranger to the reality TV game; he is an alum of both "Celebrity Rehab" and, most recently, "Celebrity Apprentice."

I haven't watched any type of reality show since that Celebrity Apprentice nonsense when Joan Rivers won. Waste of time watching a rigged "contest"..

America has finally "jumped the shark"
At long last we have given up Amy pretense of being an educated, intelligent and wise nation of thinkers and doers. We've sent away our jobs. Embraced cheap consumer goods, we have made education at the college level so expensive that it's out of reach to all but a few and our primary, public education systems stands in ruins. We'd rather embrace sports and media celebrities and we demonize the smart and openly mock and denounce provable science and pick political candidates that embrace fiction and myth over reality and rational thought. We fill our airwaves with shock jocks and scatter brained sidekicks and our televisions broadcast 24 hours a day of programming meant for the lowest common denominators in our society. Vapid. Empty. Crass individuals who on the basis of their lack on wisdom, wit and intellectual potential should be shunned and not made heroes or celebrity darlings and paid outrageous sums of money while we bicker about how we should save our crumbling infrastructure and schools. I would like to say that this kind of nonsense is above us. That it was removed by consensus of people who say how detrimental it would be to people as a whole. But obviously it isn't.

Now if you'll excuse me, I am going to go watch a "Hillbilly Hand Fishing" marathon.

Remember the reality of these 'reality' shows is faked - and intended to doing nothing more than make money - for the producers AND the participants....
Gary and Ted both must need money!

Their wives aren't "theirs" to swap. What do the 2 women have to say about this?

Looks like it could be a real life Sitcom to me. . . and if the ratings droop.... Gary and Haggard could dump the wives, and fall in love and get married to with each other....:)

reality TV has sunk so low that i'll now be able to legitimately pitch my idea for a new show. it's called, "so you think you can survive a shark attack?!". of course there will be a celebrity edition as well. dream guest star? lindsay lohan.

Gary, I hope you don't have any young sons. I wouldn't trust this man with my neutered dogs.

I want to see them cage-fighting in Speedos. Busey and Haggerty, that is. Now THAT is news. The womens can prance around in high heels with cards advertising condoms or alcohol or Christian websites like the 700 Club. And then pass the collection plate at the end. Let the Congregation say 'aMEN."

Ah, the sanctity of marriage. How they all trivialize marriage for the sake of money, egotism and publicity.

How'd you like to be one of the wives in this situation? I'd be looking for my passport right now.

(I thought I read somewhere recently that Busey is not currently married. ?)
