Sarah Palin got herself in trouble when it was revealed that the Republican National Committee spent $150,000 to clothe and accessorize her during the 2008 election. But now Levi Johnston reveals it wasn’t just Palin that was given a free makeover.
“I knew nothing but Carhartt and flannels back home and camouflage,” Johnston told me on the set of "New York Live.” "I flew down there and they put me in Armani suits and $80 socks. I was just like 'why do they make these? Are you kidding?' … They were comfy socks.”
And although Johnston admits he had to return the socks (can you get a refund on used socks?), he is the first to admit that fame and fortune changed not only Palin but also her daughter Bristol.
“[Bristol's] different on camera. Just like everyone else, you kind of got to dress the part,” Johnston says. “I think she definitely changed into the worst."
Surprisingly, as Johnston promotes his tell-all book about the Palins, Deer In The Headlights: My Life in Sarah Palin's Crosshairs, he does defend the grandmother of his baby against ugly accusations of drug use that have been leaked from another upcoming Palin tell-all.
“The Sarah I knew, you know, I rarely seen her drink you know as far a cocaine and what not I don’t see that happening,” says Johnston. “Unless she turned into some rock star, now she’s a millionaire, but I don’t think so.”
