Police reported Saturday that they had a suspect in custody in the sexual assault of an elderly woman behind a Home Depot store in southwest suburban Orland Park.

Orland Park Patch reports that a man suspected of sexually assaulting an 83-year-old woman near 159th Street and Harlem Avenue on Friday morning was arrested and questioned by police around 10:25 p.m. Friday. No charges have yet been filed against the suspect.

According to the SouthtownStar, the woman called 911 around 11:15 a.m. Friday after she was trying to assist a man she believed was homeless and living in the woods behind the store. The woman told police that the man knocked her down to the ground and sexually assaulted her before he was scared away by a police patrol car nearby. The suspect is believed to have fled the scene on a black bicycle.

The woman had reportedly had previous contact with the man and had tried to help him previously, according to Patch.

The suspect was initially described as white, between 35 and 45 years old, about 5-foot-8, with a thin build and curly red hair and a red beard. He was possibly wearing a black leather motorcycle jacket and carrying a black and yellow backpack.

Neighbors living near the store said they frequently saw a man matching the suspect's description in the area, hanging out, drinking beer and panhandling, according to NBC Chicago.
