Alec Baldwin kicked off "Saturday Night Live's" 37th season this weekend by making a record-breaking 16th appearance as host. Surpassing the previous title-holder Steve Martin, Baldwin marked the moment with his signature dignity and aplomb:

A lot of people make a big deal about the record. I don't really care about that; it's not a competition. Cause if it was, I've won. But when you think about it, time is on my side. What is Steve? A hundred? So no matter how many times he hosts, I'll always have time to catch up.

Of course, no one hurls an insult at Steve Martin without him showing up and administering a drug test with Seth Rogen as his quality control expert. Everybody knows that.
