Susan Sarandon In Talks To Join 'The Snitch', Sarandon To Co-Star With Dwayne Johnson

In an exercise in bizarre co-star chemistry, Susan Sarandon might be joining Dwayne Johnson in "The Snitch."

The action thriller from writer/director Ric Roman Waugh centers on a suburban father who is distraught when he finds out his teenage son will be imprisoned for 30 years due to drug laws. In order to reduce his son's sentence, he signs on to catch a drug lord.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sarandon is slotted to play a go-getting U.S. attorney who is hoping to leverage the drug bust into a promotion. The part was originally written for a male and is being reconfigured for the actress.

Next she'll be teaming up with Tom Hanks, Halle Berry and Hugh Grant in "Cloud Atlas."

Check out other bizarre co-star matches below!

I like them both, they might play well on screen together. If nothing else their differences will make it interesting.

Bizarre? Hardly. What a ridiculous contention.

Well, I thought Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan were pretty good together. I actually loved Rush Hour. I actually like everything I've seen with Jackie Chan.

Not sure why Sarandon being in the same film as Dwayne Johnson is "bizarre". Both have done work in this genre of action/thriller movies before.

A "bizarre" pairing would be something along the lines of Laurence Olivier or Robert De Niro and Andy Dick or Carrot Top. That would be one where I would have asked what are you thinking?

Then again, De Niro did do Meet the Parents with Ben Stiller, which I thought was a head scratcher at the time...

If the role fits them, there is nothing bizarre about this. I don't know if this is true of this movie, but nearly all the movies you listed as bizarre matches, were not at all bizarre.

Like if they played a newlywed couple, and the age gap was not part of the story, that could be a bizarre pairing.

Miss Sarandon will be great as she is in all of her movies. This sounds like The Client (esque) type of movie, which she was great in. I hope it is made, she's a great actress and Dwayne Johnson is no slouch either (surprisingly).

I don't quite understand why they call this casting 'bizarre'. Two actors cross paths in Hollywood. It must be that they are so use to the same 6 actors interchanging rolls: Julia Roberts, Reese Ditherspoon, Jennifer A, Jennifer Lo, Brad Pitt, Adam Sandler, you know the routine.

Sarandon and The Rock ... I like it. An interesting match for a movie with Susan in a strong role. Sounds like it could turn into a TV show. There seems to be depth in the roles and the plot with more to build on ... Sarandon, New York attorney, cases about NYPD, politics, prisons, Broadway, jazz, Elaine's -- oh! Maybe not Elaine's, someplace else as a regular spot.

Yes, I'd love to see Sarandon in a TV hit - to elevate the medium.

Susan Sarndon is a superb, timeless actress who fits anywhere! And Dwayne Johnson ... yipes...is like a whole new chemistry set. Lucky Susan. Lucky Dwayne.

This casting combination certainly is a head-scratcher. Sarandon's next film sounds more intriguing because it appears to be the first time that Tom Hanks and Hugh Grant will be in the same movie together. And with Halle Berry! Wooo.

Exactly in what universe are Jennifer Lopez and Matthew McConaughey a wierd paring? The Wedding Planner is one of the less gag-able romcoms either one of them has made.

One of the wackiest co-starrings was "The Boys from Brazil". Laurence Olivier (the only actor ever named a lord) co-starred with Steve Guttenberg (of "Police Academy" fame), although Guttenberg isn't in the movie for very long.

Another was "Johnny Suede". Among the co-stars are Samuel L. Jackson (muthafuckin' snakes on a muthafuckin' plane) and Tina Louise (Ginger Grant), although those two didn't share any scenes.
