Radiohead In New York: Band Covers R.E.M. At Roseland Ballroom Show

Radiohead Covers R.E.M. At First New York Concert

Radiohead played the first of two concerts at New York's Roseland Ballroom, in a surprise event announced last week. Tickets went on sale Monday and appeared to be sold out before the scheduled, 10 a.m. sell time, making some fans murderously angry.

According to Billboard, the band opened their set a little shakily with "Bloom," but by the time "Weird Fishes/Arpeggi" came around, the crowd was in a good rhythm. Radiohead gave a shout-out to R.E.M., leading into "Everything In Its Right Place" with "The One I Love," a move that took the night into "rousing live-show fodder," according to the New York Times. The Times' reviewer seemed most taken with "All I Need," calling the performance "desperate and magnificent."

As for those of us who didn't experience anything desperate and magnificent last night, here are a handful of videos from the show that will make you a particularly jealous, and perhaps a little desperate at least.
